Jazz Brown and I live in Camberwell/Peckham London. I was born in Luton but moved to Ireland when I was young with my family :)

𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐱
It came from my relationship with dreaming. We don't realize that we spend half our lives unconscious, dreaming, growing and the majority of us don't actually remember our dreams. I do!!! I remember them so well that I feel like they are another life for me, another world nip into creating but sometimes having no control over. I wake up daily confused or affected in some sort of way whether that is positive or negative. I believe they speak to us or remind us of another force out there, accessing that part of our brain and the universe we are longing for. Mixes or sets are quite like dreams, going on a transcendent journey unsure of what to expect. The weird subconscious worries we latch onto or deep desires in us and that’s what I wanted to create with this, a two hour mix inspired by those intricate and bitter sweet emotions starting slow with parts of chaos in there. It’s all connected ~~~

𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜?
I grew up in a very musical household. Both my parents and family were music heads. They were very young when they had me so I grew up in a young adults home with their friends and our family around :) My dad especially, being Jamaican, was a huge lover of dancehall, bashment, jungle & Rnb. My Mum introduced me to pop, triphop and rnb and I was surrounded by cds, records and videos, having a small collection of my own when I was like 7/8, I still collect Cds today. I remember my parents used to have small gatherings at our house when I was a kid and invite friends and family around and there would be loud music playing through huge sound system speakers in the backroom…. I was so involved and curious and it stuck with me! As a DJ and producer I now look for that nostalgic feeling and emotion in music. I like sensual rhythms and deep groovy kicks and drums, kind of like in rnb or dancehall. I think because of how eclectic my musical childhood was has given me more of an open minded outlook when playing or listening to music. I like all genres and usually play a mixture of them creating my own sound with a few tracks from different genre families.

I opened the basement in De school which was MAD, the crowd from start to finish were here for it. Laak in Den Hag was also something else but also @ankali, Prague was defo my fave!! The energy in that club and the party and people were just amazing, I wanna go back!

A pleasure to hear this mix by La Serpiente (Marco Segato). We’ve been in touch years back when I was booking the first Zaliva-D European tour.  Marco brought Zaliva-D to the, now permanently closed, Macao in Milano.  His journey in life brought him recently to Amsterdam. 

Marco Segato is a sonic explorer, producer and live performer currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He's the co-founder of Rete Neurale Milano E.S.T. - an event born in the infamous Milanese multi-cultural space Macao - and curator of the mix series Empty Signal Transmission. He has been a Red Bull Music Academy alumnus in 2016 in Montréal (Canada) and graduated in Audio Production at SAE Institute Milan in 2017. During the last years Marco released his music under four different monikers: La Serpiente, MS, Narvalos (with Alessio Costantino) & eoobe (with Elina Tapio). Across these projects his sound maintains a sense of mysticism brewing with eerie tension, influenced and incorporating sounds of broken beats, post-industrial experimentations, and ritualistic elements to conjure psychic immersion. He produces and performs live sets with a combination of analogue and digital hardware, with a sonic outcome that is always saturating the mind with extra-musical ideas.

"The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.”, one well-known writer once said. And for the new Birds entry, I welcome @philipp-otterbach, long-time record collector of all kinds of music, DJ and producer, who would approve his words. For a long while he devotes himself with endurance to music. During the 2000s, he threw some forward-looking dances with his old buddy Vladimir Ivkovic in the German Ruhr region. And when Düsseldorf’s shrine for outer-national grooves Salon Des Amateurs opened in 2004, Otterbach became a one of the first residents. Since 2014 he is also out there with his very own sound, releasing EPs on labels like adventurous Dutch Knekelhuis, Themes for Great Cities, Brokntoys etc. In 2020 he dropped his debut album 'Everything Else Matters' on R.I.O.  followed by "The Dahlem Diaries" on Music From Memory Nowadays (2023) and "Correct me if I am incorrectly you" on Offen (2023). Listening to one of Philipp's DJ sets is like shuffling through an imaginary library. His musical language follows an intertwined logic of emotional affects, ineffable magic and endless fantasy. A man for suspenseful storytelling that likes to melt early electronic music, Krautrock, minimalism, and all sorts of tribal rhythms with eclectic voodoo dance, psychedelic guitar tsunami’s, house, techno and electro - always beautifully entangled with a precise feeling for special funk dynamics. This one is another great example of these antics too. Let the mind fly with the birds!
