Amorphous textures and undulating rhythms from INDEX:Records co-owner Conna Haraway.

Next up on the TT series is Conna Haraway who co-runs the indefinably good INDEX:Records with King Softy. The pair originally met and formed their label in Amsterdam (they also run Appendix.files) but Connor is now based in Glasgow while Amos lives in Berlin.

Like the music they make and release, I can't and won't attempt to describe this mix because genre terms don’t really work when it comes to these guys, but the whole thing encapsulates the INDEX style perfectly. I’ve also asked Connor a few questions about Glasgow because I love and miss that city so couldn't pass up the opportunity to speak a little about it (and it's very temperamental weather).

There are few artists quite like Shy, a Berlin-based, American-born producer publicly recognized under various monikers including Special Guest DJ, Caveman LSD, uon, and through his myriad collaborations. His own productions and mixes consistently defy expectations, adeptly capturing the essence of the moment while continuously pushing boundaries.

Meanwhile, Shy's contributions to other artists' releases echo this distinctive signature sound. Whether collaborative, enigmatic, or paradigm-breaking, his imprint on the realms of modern club and ambient music is undeniable.

In 2021, a notable shift occurred as Shy's latest venture, @triplexlarge (3XL), emerged in the wake of imprints like Experiences Ltd., bblisss, and xpq?, of which he was solely or partially involved in. Since its inception, 3XL has not only delivered straightforward releases from artists like Ulla, Ben Bondy, nueen, and Exael, but also rare collaborative endeavors featuring groups like xphresh, crimeboys, and the evolving band sofa. Unraveling the intricacies of who collaborated with who and discerning the level of care involved is only part of the experience. The music itself speaks for itself, maintaining an unparalleled level of quality and consistency that stands out in today's electronic music landscape.

For the third instalment of “Cowboys And The Sounds Of,” an Editorial mix series from longtime contributor @napmusick , we’re treated to the sounds of sad country music and trains passing by. The combination is unexpectedly heart-wrenching, as if the sound of trains bring us back to an era of long goodbyes and far distances. Three years in the making, Rincon’s two hour collection of cosmic country and folk is a testament to the enduring heartbreak and beauty of the genre. 

Daniel Rincon makes music under the moniker @napmusick ,  is one half of Ambein Baby and La Fe, and runs an experimental electronic label @sonidoisla out of Montreal.
