"I feel that this set is a good representation of the tunes I like to rep, with a contrast of moods and dynamic style of mixing. The first 10-15 min section is quite memorable for me, as I was really enjoying the energy the tunes were bringing out of each other. The third tune, which is from Florentino, is quite an upfront percussive banger, but when it comes in from the DJ Boss tune it’s just got a straight-up sexy quality, haha. Then the Youngsta tune after it just amplifies the hype. Plus: I got to give a shout to re:ni as I got very, very hyped playing one of her new bits! The Sputnik One bit sounding bloody epic too, and I played 3 tunes from Amor Satyr/Siu Mata – so I got to give him a special mention too!"

They say that you need to understand the rules before you can break them. If that's true, @toma-kami is a true sage of rhythm. The Paris-based artist and Man Band label boss defies convention each time he drops a new 12" or one of his famously physical DJ mixes. He bends and toys with drums and bass, twisting and turning them through the worlds of house, techno, breaks, juke and club to come up with something thrillingly fresh and hard to define.

Toma will join us at Dekmantel Selectors in August, but before that comes this week's mix. It is a masterfully controlled but edge-of-your-seat ride through all those sounds and more. At times they are piled up on top of each other to the point of collapse, at others they are teased apart and drawn out to hypnotic effect. These are supple but muscular and physical sounds that make you want to bend every bone in your body in pure appreciation of Kami's unique rhythmic gymnastics.

Based in the pacific northwest, enereph (@nebula-716736875) weaves introspective sounds into intricate rhythmic layers, creating narrative atmospheres to connect with the innermost cores of feeling. Drawing from cross-genre experimentalism, enereph traverses the outer edges of sound, often pushing into the unknown. After two years focused on composing and performing live sets, enereph is slated to release an EP reflecting their distinct voice on NAGA in June.

To some, London-based producer Klaus exists on the more enigmatic end of underground music, with his label Tanum putting out music without artwork, extensive press or visual imagery as we're used to seeing these days. But the value system that propel his output and his traveling Tanum Soundsystem could not be louder or more necessary in our current landscape. Tanum Soundsystem was born out of a frustration to recreate Plastic People's immaculate symbiosis between space and sound, and more importantly to divorce paralyzing drivers like money and social structures from the club experience. The stripped down format of Tanum's releases allow us focus on the 45rpm 12" releases in a way that makes you want to delve deeper into the music, and explore anything that sounds like it, taking us back to music consumption more powered by heart.

We were stoked to ask Klaus to record us our 235th Truancy Volume, and he delivered a profound mix that traverses across different rhythms and patterns but maintains a deep and reflective vibe throughout. It's just over forty-five minutes that take us back to our roots with its meditative bass lines and an array of tunes that span over the past decade. We spoke to Klaus about his soundsystem, label, the values that shape nightlife in London and more.
