This mix was for a mix series called Loop Dreams ~ Thanks to Pete for inviting me to his series back in 2020. 

I've loaded it again to my mixes as this series is no longer available. 

I made this mix for Loop Dreams specially for my creative family. I’m always keen to find chill out mixes for my own art practice. Since we’re in lock down I thought I put together an alleviating mix filled with lullabies. I mixed ambient, Smooth Jazz, instrumental hip hop and R&B with the likes of: Oumuo Sangare, Bill Evans, Hiroshi Suzuki, Other Joe, Ras G, Erika de Casier & Hello Sailor just to name a few.

It’s recommended for home activities such as cooking, yoga, reading, art making and love making. Smoother than silk...

DJ Possum Loop Dreams mix (✿´‿`)

It is not everyday we are sent a 5 hour mix from someone we have asked to join our Phonica mix series; but when Sheffield & Manchester legend Luke Una sends one… you have to jump straight into it! Having become first recognised in the late 80’s and 90’s as one half of production team “The Unabombers” with Justin Crawford, Luke over the years has shown to be a master in all genres be it Balearic, to Brazilian to E soul, House, Disco and Techno, you name it! With his Worldwide FM show over the years gaining a cult following Luke has gained an even more of a broader crowd from his curation of his E Soul Cultura compilation series via the label Mr.Bongo (Both comps topping our EOY lists in 2022 and 2023). This exact vast taste (that is displayed in these compilations) is very much pummelled into this five hour journey of a mix like a piece of clay and sculpted into a fine piece of art. Two hours of uncanny pop and eerie synth minimalism from Sheffield pioneers The Human League. 

Formed in Sheffield in 1977, The Human League started as an experimental, post-industrial synth trio. After key members left in 1980, Philip Oakey rebuilt the band with two teenage vocalists, shifting towards the more charismatic (and commercially viable) new wave sound that thrust them into the mainstream. Their 1981 album _Dare_ and the hit “Don’t You Want Me” went on to define early ’80s electronic pop.

The sounds speak from themselves with Henry drawing upon influences from the likes of Dj Sprinkles, Basic Channel, old NY House music and after hours sounds.

The end result is a puzzle made up of pieces from each – all with evocative undertones throughout.

The latest release is out on Scissor & Thread – a suitable home for an eclectic, long playing selection of pensive tracks which leave food for thought.

This is music for late night moments alone, for foggy mornings and reflective moments.
