Our Theory Therapy show-turned-label was back on Skylab with Patrin and I at the helm for the first time in a while. The mix features music from and inspired by our imprint’s debut compilation Out of Season, which came out August 6th. It consists of an even larger amount of field recordings than usual, all taken from specific places, some recorded by myself in Sydney but several from different locations including Japan, Belgium, Latvia and Chile. I’ve always personally been drawn to the kind of music that feels tied to a specific location or environment as opposed to some abstract imagined place. It’s something I feel the tracks on the compilation all capture beautifully and I wanted the mix to feel similar. Hopefully some of that translates. Because of the lockdown in Sydney preventing us from recording together, it's me for the first 60 and Patrin taking the reins for the final hour. Thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy.

Katharina Schmidt is a musician based in Berlin.
Katharina's solo work is heavily influenced by indie, experimental, and improvised music. Katharina likes exploring storytelling, sonic topographies, with generative techniques. Her music uses field recordings and self-built interfaces alongside acoustic instruments. From sonifications to lullabies. Her work is poised between formal experimentation and narratives cued by literature, pop culture. It can be heard in installations, film music, radiophonic pieces, and record labels such as Flag Day Recordings, Slaapwel Records, and Focused Silence.
Katharina holds a master’s degree in Sound Studies from the Berlin University of the Arts and is a resident at Cashmere Radio and SVS Radio.

Their album, "Endless Bliss Weekener", hits a sweet spot somewhere between the 4AD / Projekt universe and early 2000's / late 90's downtempo. Private Mountain is audio and visual project of Dimitar Dodovski (https://soundcloud.com/dimitardodovski) and Toni Dimitrov (https://soundcloud.com/tonidimitrov) releasing their debut album 'Blue Mountain' on UK label Neotantra (curated by Lee Anthony Norris). It is a project about their shared fascination with nature, art, philosophy and discussions about the past and future of ambient music, that resulted with a beautiful introspective album that entered the bandcamp chart of ambient bestsellers and received many great reviews.
The album 'Dark Political Stratum' by Private Mountain is the third release on the Macedonian experimental label Élan Vital Recordings, and second for the duo of Toni Dimitrov and Dimitar Dodovski. The album refers to the global geopolitical changes and turbulence at the beginning of the 21 century. Produced in Macedonia, a center of the global geostrategic clashes of the superpowers, it is a sound statement to these global political shifts, observed through the local prism. Macedonia in the recent years and under the pressure of the neighboring countries and the superpowers, using all methods of the hybrid war, passed through very harsh historical times and major changes, that unfortunately resulted with disintegration of the nation as we know it. 'Dark political stratum' is slightly noisier and experimental release, which development came out as an outtake of the material for the upcoming album 'СТРАТУМИ', coming up as their third release on Silent Season label.
