Ross is a Brighton based lover of records, host of the @thirdspace show on local station @1BTN.

Here he takes you on a real journey covering many ambient flavours, deep dubby textures and some downtempo treats.

It's time to take a trip with Cult 48. 

After listening to their incredible debut Catalog 1 (C48/Furthur Electronix) and their follow up 1.1 (C48) we were adamant to get the mysterious Cult 48 included in the mix series. Their production fuses ambient, downtempo and IDM with blissful chords and deep rhythmic drums that will transport you away. This is clearly reflected in the mix that they have provided here.

Take a Trip with Cult 48

So for the final mix of the year in the Take a Trip series we have @hinakoomori , a musician with a love for synthesizers and anything that makes interesting sounds. 

Hinako's own production combines ambientspace-synths with field recordings and her own ethereal vocals. Thematically, her music is influenced by the idea of space and infinity, floating into separate universes — everything being transparent and lucid, and the idea that nothing is permanent.

For the mix Hinako decided to do a sonic representation of a dream they had recently, that they scrawled into their iPhone notes when they woke up one morning… all the tracks are chosen around the theme of the dream.

The Dream: Walking around the Swiss alps on a day off, and I get lost trying to record the sound of icicles. I take a train towards the mountains to a large film auditorium, where the whole class is sat round wearing headphones.The ground is springy and spongy.

Before drifting into some peaceful ambient for when the sun is creeping through the curtains and you know it’s time to call it a night.
