In The Botswana Pavilions (TBP) fourth iteration, the independent collective from Botswana partnered with sakhileandme.com - presenting a show parallel to the 59th Venice Biennale. Maš(w)i a Ditoro (Tsa Rona), brings together a richness of medium & material ranging from video, painting, installation, photography & photomontage.

Reflecting 2022s theme for the Venice Biennale, Maš(w)i a Ditoro (tsa Rona) translates specifically to, 'the Milk of our Dreams'. Where the theme is said to suggest life as constantly re-envisioned through the prism of the imagination, the Setswana translation presents a Botswana satellite that positions & presents the transnational workings of creatives from Botswana in Frankfurt, Germany — in TBP's first iteration in Europe.

Rrangwane's contribution to the exhibit is a video work titled MOSAMO. The latter in Setswana is a pillow you put your head on when sleeping. Its also the artists DIY translation of the Nguni word, 'Umsamo' which can mean ancestral alter. The video is a 7 dream/video montage that explores the vulnerabilities of sleep as a facilitation of transformations. Mosamo centers Afrikan spirituality & indigenous science. It also interrogates the idea of aesthetics; as it was entirely shot & edited on an android thus using a 'low quality' phone to resist the notion of new technologies as the only evidence of development or civilization.
