Inspired by a relaxing holiday at a villa just south of Florence where we immersed ourselves in museums and art by day and sipped Chianti made on the premises each night.

Many, many years ago my friend hosted a post-race party at his house by the river. Besides myself, there was a crowd of fellow distance runners reliving the trials of a gruelling 20 km earlier that day, various boyfriends, girlfriends, relatives and a very small number of adventurous singles (luckily for me). My life hasn't been the same since.

The First Time I Met You

Guess I got tired of writing sad songs and melodies. This one just made me feel happy. I couldn't think of a title, though, but then one of my friends suggested I change some of the piano "waterfall" parts because they were too repetitive. Voila!

Sometimes music connects to your soul for no apparent reason. The combination of piano, flute and vocals in this piece does this for me.
