'With measured urgency, Praise builds from a single note and a careful kick, growing to cumulonimbus heights. Shreds of prophe2c lyrics echo and flash, stoking an2cipa2on, breaking into dazzled trance-like moments. A track like a long, soaring flight, it is focused and aFen2ve, thick with controlled electricity. Semara’s voice is a counterpoint of calm strength.

Shards of broken glass seem to flicker over the 2ght wobble of this introspec2ve track. Synths burn hard as truth through the depths, with vocals like a sour peach on the tongue: fuzzed yet bright, a searing edge hazed in sweetness. Ideal is a tough realiza2on skewered into a techno stride.

Agatha Pher recasts Praise with a punchy beat, drawing wild forms from the spare density of the original. Melodies open up like a concer2na, and 2ghtly bent synths add swerving embellishments to Semara’s arrangement. This angular remix keeps the mood but warps the shape, the lyrics dis2lled, spun with snares and a deeper house thump.
D-Nox & Beckers deliver a melodic, clubbier take on Ideal. This version leans into the focused pump of the drum, its arpeggios bubbling from the outset, sparingly punctuated with vocals. With a rich buildup of claps and jangles, bleeps and bloops, this dancefloor-shaped remix conjures crowds and distorted bright lights.'

Steve Bug returns to his own Poker Flat Recordings with what might be the ultimate summer jam. Entitled The Haze, it’s a woozy, low slung acidic roller with Steve’s trademark ear for detail.

It’s been a busy first half of the year for Steve Bug: he made his AUS Music debut Back to ‘95 on which he teamed up with the renowned vocalist and producer Mr. V, while also finding time to release the double A-side Let It Go / Suitcase In A with long-time collaborator Cle. 

Now he’s back on his own Poker Flat, this time enlisting the sizeable talents of Ali Love for the fantastic new single The Haze.

Ali Love is best known as a member of the house music band Hot Natured and the duo Infinity Ink. Since then he has established himself as one of the most instantly recognisable voices in electronic music, working with a huge array of producers and releasing on leading labels such as Keinemusik, Defected and Crosstown Rebels.

The Haze features Ali Love delivering a vocal full of sweet nostalgia for warm nights and beautiful sunrises, punctuated with Balearic keys and ethereal backing vocals. This is sure fire open-air winner, also presented here is the instrumental mix.

Last night in Amsterdam, a compact club space with a low ceiling and a long, narrow floor that pulls everyone toward the booth. People arrived steadily, coats dropped early, conversations fading as the room filled in. I played a longer session that night, stretching well past three hours and letting the mood shift gradually rather than by design.

This recording is one hour taken from that set, captured once the groove had settled into something fluid and unforced. Tracks from Nick Curly, Cristoph, and Eli & Fur laid the foundation, with familiar shapes appearing and dissolving without emphasis. “Vapours” arrives late in the hour, not as a peak, but as a calm point of balance that holds everything together.

Listening back, this hour feels like a reminder of why pacing matters. Nothing is pushed, nothing is held back, and the music is allowed to speak in its own time. Sometimes the clearest moments come when you stop steering and simply stay present.

Dutch duo Esteble aka Joep Esseling & Bram Harmsen made their first Anjunadeep appearance with ‘Passage’, the opening track to last Autumn’s iTunes Dance #1 compilation ‘Anjunadeep 07’. ‘Passage’ now sees a release on the pair’s full label debut, the diverse ‘Feathers EP’ featuring four tracks showcasing their intricate composition and deft melodic touch.

The EP opens with ‘Feathers’ a brooding electronic gem, weaving delicate melodies with clever instrumentalism, above a warm textured bassline. ‘Passage’ is a fine example of the duo’s raw organic sound, a skilled soundscape layering soft melodies with natural elements.

Next up ‘The Walk’, an upbeat cinematic groover with as much dynamism as the title would suggest. Closing off the EP ‘Soaring’ is a more dance floor minded production with a stripped back feel combining slick percussive elements with interspersed arpeggios.

Every summer I make many exclusive tracks to play in my sets. I take my favourite tracks and retweak and rehash them into something completely new. This year there were a couple of booties that sent audiences wild. I normally give them away for free on Soundcloud but that has become much harder recently due to legal reasons I will not go into.
