Hard to write the lyrics when you don't feel sad...but gave it a tongue in cheek go. Wanted to step it up for the chorus back to 4/4 rock so have a few changes along the way in time signature and tempo.

Written about my neighbour's rescue dog. Nellie was a terrible mess when she rescued her some years ago. With complicated medical conditions Julia continues to love and support Nellie and give her quality of life. More people should be doing this.

The universal experience some of us seem to have in our lives more than others. I've lost so many treasured beings, animal and human. Every one has affected me greatly, and I wanted to reveal the raw depth in one simple sparse arrangement...when grief sneaks through that open door and overwhelms you.
 If it brings you to tears then it reflects how hard it was to sing...lumps in the throat do not make the process easy. If it speaks to your heart...then my job is done.

Grief

Trained as classical pianist from 5-13, moved to drums and playing professionally since 16. Play in 5 piece band in Perth. Love animals...been vegetarian for more than half my life. Teach "live" sound engineers.
