I think most people have been through times in their life when they've taken an emotional kicking.

I had in mind when I wrote this song, someone who had been through a pretty bad experience.

They could shy away and hide from the next one, but they decide that they're going headlong, full throttle into things.

2023 is fast-becoming a big one for Tom Bright. Already, he’s performed at The London Palladium, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Celtic Connections, headlined John Kennedy’s iconic night The Remedy, toured the UK and been live in session on Radio X.

Friday 2nd June sees him unleash his new single, ‘Matchsticks', produced by long-standing collaborator Ed Harcourt and mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.
 
The track sees Tom take us on an autobiographical journey of hospital beds and near-death experiences. With Keats-like romanticism and a Fleetwood Mac-esque backdrop, ‘Matchsticks’ takes him into very new ground. 
 
Since the release of his much-lauded second album ‘Legacy’ back in 2021, Bright has toured relentlessly, supporting the likes of Declan O’Rourke, William Prince, Richard Walters, The Bluetones & Callaghan, and performing at Glastonbury Festival & Secret Garden Party along the way.

In a career that’s seen him work with the likes of Mick Jones (The Clash) and Matt Johnson (The The), he can be found in Spotify’s Most Beautiful Songs in the World playlist and counts Guy Garvey (BBC 6 Music), John Kennedy (Radio X), Gary Crowley (BBC Radio London), Dean Jackson (BBC Introducing) and Lilian Smith (RTÉ Radio 1) as supporters. 
 
Tom will be back on the road this June, closing the run with a third Glastonbury appearance on Thursday 22nd.
