Psycle.’s expertly curated catalogue continues with a new addition from Pow-Low that comes hot on the heels of his last single Crown back in February.

@Pow-Low is a core part of this label and keeps serving up the goods with each new offering. He hails from the Italian part of Switzerland but his musical endeavors have taken him all over the world. He’s formally studied drums with Pierre Favre, been playing in bands since his teenage years, studied recording engineering and production and worked in high end studios in Hollywood and South Africa as well as DJing with lot’s of passion.

REBEL is lively house music that is enriched with warm, smeared chords, tribal bass and funky female vocal chops. It features live drums recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.

Multi-talented artist Pow-Low is back on PSYCLE. with three more of his inventive new house tracks.

@Pow-Low is from the Italian part of Switzerland but his musical endeavors have taken him all over the world. He was a student of jazz star Pierre Favre, has been releasing music on vinyl since his teenage years, studied recording engineering and production and worked in high end studios in Hollywood. Next to playing in various bands he has turned out plenty of cult minimal hits on this label as well as AUTIST Records and Open Records and is no stranger to the top of the Beatport charts.

First up, ‘Inhale’ is a classic deep house track with swinging and jazzy drums recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios on vintage sets. Ambient-guitars and an old school mellotron are supported by a super-low bassline to make for a dreamy atmosphere and sublime groove.

The excellence continues on ‘Exhale’ with more swinging drums and jazzy chord progressions that evolve under synth licks with a classic Minimoog sound. Funky drum-fills push the track constantly forward and make the overall impact all the more special.

Last of all is a techno remix of a progressive original that has smashing drums and a massive drop featuring morphing synths that lead back into a superb main groove. It’s another classy cut from this studio wizard.

Once again here Pow-Low brings all his many years of experience and wide range of influences to three top tracks. The EP also features a cover image taken from one of Pow-Low’s weekend long outdoor festivals.

@Pow-Low and PSYCLE.’s relationship continues to flourish as the producer serves up a fourth fantastic single on the label following his collaboration with award winning film-score composer Rainer Oleak back in January.
Pow-Low is a student of jazz star Pierre Favre, graduate of the highly acclaimed US music school ‘Full Sail University’, has been playing live since 13 and releasing music on vinyl since 17. He is skilled on the synclavier system, has worked at the legendary Record Plant studio in Hollywood and as in-house engineer at South Africa’s Bop-Studios. He has mastered music for Peter Gabriel as well as producing huge thrash metal act Coroner and was lead singer and producer of No Religion, the world’s first techno-metal band. On top of this he runs his own event Hertz, which has welcomed many big dance acts, and has been resident at various key clubs in Zurich. Now he shows another side to himself again with this new trio of tracks.
Perfectly warm deep house opener ‘Ghost Note’ takes its name from ghost notes, which are played very softly between the ’main’ notes. They bring the groove alive particularly here, set against funky drums recorded with a vintage ‘70s drum set at the legendary Abbey Road recording studios in London. The track has an epic break with thunderstorm sounds and dubby drones and a jazz tinged groove that brings real colour and heart to the dance floor.
The excellent ‘Cargo Cult’ on the other hand is big and pumping. The singing bassline was inspired by the good old speed garage days and is overlaid with bubbly keys and drones, filtered vocals and smeared pads that make it deep and spacious. A multi-dimensional harmonic break adds another layer and the whole thing oozes class.
Last of all, the superb ’Minigrip’ is a complex, multi-level minimal-techno track that took more than one year to make. It’s lively and ever evolving, with squelchy bass and scattered hits that will make any dance floor restless and energetic.
This is another hugely accomplished EP of richly produced house sounds from Pow-Low.

The charming title track opens up this release with lively house music that is enriched with warm, smeared chords, bubbly bass and an inviting, heartwarming vibe. ‘Studio’ is another deep but driving track with bass and synths that melt around each other as jazzy hi hats spin up top. The classy, good time grooves continue with ‘nowER,’ which has deft little bass riffs sticking out of a gooey groove and cosmic pads adding to the superbly stylish feel. Luzern jazz-school band, Colster feat. DAENS provide the next offering, deftly remixed by Pow-low, ‘Around The World (Pow-Low Remix)’ is a superbly soul-drenched track with lounge-y chords and effortlessly smooth rolling kicks and vocals. Offering something more minimal, freaky and late night is the excellent ‘Son of a Beat’ (2019 remaster) which is a busy track with rich layers of synth, keys, samples and percs all scurrying above a restless rhythm.

This is brilliantly colourful house music that exudes real soul and charm from start to finish.
