A Wolf's Dream

This is the first track I've created after wrapping up my new album “aes.thet.ics”. There is always uncertainty as to what I want to work on after releasing a collection of material. (or if I need a break)It's a combination of relief/fulfillment, mixed with self imposed pressure as to needing to come up with ideas for future work.

Going back to minimal piano remains a comforting direction. For me it's always a rewarding emotional release.

I am continuing to hone the approach of building drum beats with the Volca Drum for that lofi foundation to the sound and then adding lots of analogue and hybrid leads with the Minilogue XD. The track also includes a variety of VSTs/iOS based synths.  I was happy with how this one came out!

Ra is the Egyptian word for 'sun'. As a solar deity, Ra embodied the power of the sun but was also thought to be the sun itself, envisioned as the great god riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset.
My ode to that great civilization and the Sun  responsible for all life on this planet..

A special thank you to Pamela Illanes, (https://soundcloud.com/user-315009621), a wonderful composer that even had her own work played by a real orchestra, early on during my writing I struggled with writers block for almost 2 weeks, one night we engaged in a conversation and Pam was very helpful, she gave me the patience and strength I needed at the time, writers block really gets to me. I am so glad that making music has maintained our friendship and kept us together. Some people maintain friendships through going out to eat, watching sporting events, doing family things together, etc. I make music with my friends. 

Thanks to Russ and Jon for being my musical friends as well. Jon is so awesome, I can say, let's try making a late 60’s psychedelic cumbia inspired track, and he can then say, sure! And Russ is always down for the ride, thanks for taking over the wheel while we trip on some shrooms, lol!

First track of a new album where I'll try to be more eclectic, with closer approach to some genres. Experimented on this one over-editing vocal line on the left, and getting midi files out of organic guitar melodies, which I could play with virtual instruments. I hope you'll enjoy a different Ruizzoid shape.

Dedicated to Germán Coppini’s ‘Golpes Bajos’, one of my favorite groups of the Spanish ‘Nueva Ola’.
