﻿﻿Featuring three more raw versions based on original tracks from 2000 & One, French Fries and Rødhåd, DJ Edits Volume 4 arrives just in time for the festive season. Precision edited, endorsed and club-tested by Len Faki, the package offers yet another chance to delve into the record bag of the Figure label head.

2000 & One's 'Ethics' is a classic from the 90s that Len has been playing for years. Just the right time for a fresh rework for today's high-fidelity sound systems, this rolling powerhouse opens up with a crunching percussion array before the original's playful melody surfaces and the funk is laid on thick!

The jacking, positively charged 'Journey to Kepler' by French Fries is reworked here by Len into a storming Detroit inspired monster. Constantly building, evolving and mutating, it's a track that never fails to deliver a pure rush of emotions and endorphins every time.

Berlin mainstay Rødhåd's 'Mines Of Mines' gets the full on late night treatment from Len in this tense, broken beat reworking. From subtle layered bleeps and pads forms an extremely dense field of sound. The arrival of a low-deep kick drum formation creates the perfect transition track in this stand-out moment of hypnosis.

As you know, the last 4-5 years I’ve been immersing myself in the UK post-garage/future forward/broken beat/whatever you want to call it sound, and I started noticing I had these deeper tracks that wouldn’t normally fit into one of my sets. Floaty, sentimental, lilting, but all with the swingin funk I love so much.

So, last Sunday, I woke up, made myself some amazing coffee and put this mix together. I hope you like it. Thanks for letting me contribute, and for being my buddy all these years.

Dynamic Ukrainian producer Yan Cook makes his debut on Soma Records with the Wide Angle EP. Active on the scene for some time now and releasing on a number of top flight labels, Yan delivers a devastating 4 track EP, chalked full of his distinctive sound. 

The ominous title Wide Angle kicks things off with thumping and tripped out low end and doesnt hold back, firing straight out of the block with rapid percussion and twisted synth elements. Krater keeps up the pace with a more rolling and hypnotic feel; crushing rhythmic elements has Yan on full attack mode with this track. Blacklisted keeps up the aggressive vibes with sinister tones, growling basslines and yet more jarring and propulsive rhythms. Closing out with Red Stream, Yan continues with the malevolent vibes as dark and forbidding tones permeate throughout this perfectly crafted tool.

Yan Cook is yet another welcome addition to the ever growing roster of high quality talent on Soma.

Parallx, born and raised in the dirty industrial landscapes of the Ruhr metropolis in West Germany and based in Berlin since 2010, belongs to the new rising techno generation. His EBM- , Industrial- and 90’s Techno inspired productions are despite its rough power on the dance floor, finely designed down to the smallest detail.  In 2017 Parallx released his first Records on Kobosil’s imprint R - Label Group as well as on Arts and was voted #3 Newcomer of the Year by the readers of Groove Magazine.  His versatile DJ sets, who stand out through the mix of powerful 2000s techno and EBM, as well as his excursion into Darkwave, Synth Pop and Electro, opened him the door to the legendary club Berghain and other clubs all over Europe.

Despite naming himself after a mythical egomaniac, Narciss’ approach to Techno is very far from selfcentered, with his inspirations reaching from the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft’s writing, across the jagged dystopian landscapes of Tsutomu Nihei, to the 90’s tool techno whitelabel-records he fell in love with in his teen years. Undeterred by the tonal difference in these influences though, the glue holding all of them together is an earnest sense of urbanity and Narciss’ audible wish to make a crowd move as ecstatically as possible.
