Swainsons Thrush and flying insects are busy in a thickly forested area in the mountains of Montana.  I recorded this a couple summers ago.

Insects and frogs call throughout the night in the cloud forest near a small stream, and some wind gusts pass through the canopy, shaking rain drops down.  The rain was light and falling through the foliage.  I recorded this with a Double Mid-side system.

I enjoyed recording some winds recently, in this section there are some grasses, loose sand, and occasional birdsong, and various tones from the shape of the spot where I had the mics

This is a long recording from a ridge near the ocean, so the surf is in the background, there is bird and animal activity at dusk and dawn, and a big thunderstorm rolls in.  The Yellow-Throated Toucan is very active, and the Scarlet Macaws, Tinamou, and Mantled Howler Monkeys are also calling at dusk. I removed one section of a few minutes where the rainfall was so heavy it started leaking through and hitting the mics but otherwise left this recording intact.  I used my Sennheiser Double MidSide system with a Sound Devices MixPre recorder.

It was nice to hear the Common Poorwill calling at dusk, and cactus wrens, black-throated sparrows.  There is a lot of wind through the vegetation in this, and there were lots of grasses in the area.  I used the double mid-side system to record this.

My favorite willow on the block, has a beautiful tone and creaky details in wind.  The power lines above it sometimes sound like this in the wind.  Recorded with Sennheiser Double MidSide.  Later that night it snowed too.

Recorded this night thunderstorm with a Sennheiser double mid-side system.  The rain was pretty heavy over a grove of aspen, with some broader leafed vegetation on the forest floor.  The storm lasted for a few hours, I picked out this section to share for now.

Rain in the cloud forest in Costa Rica, with a little bit of variation in wind, and some birds and insects throughout. I recorded this with a pair of omnidirectional mics hidden underneath foliage, and the sound of the rain striking various types of leaves is prominent.

The wind in this mountainous region is incredible, and it sweeps through so many layers of vegetation.  I enjoyed recording the gusts through foliage and grasses with the onset of the nights' insect chorus, it's a double mid-side recorded decoded to stereo.

The wind was pretty strong as this storm built overhead on a ridge in Colorado during this past monsoon season.  There are some birds in places throughout, and just after this a little rain started.  Recorded with my double mid-side system and decoded to stereo here.

I put these mics underneath some broad-leafed plants so you can hear the rain drops striking the leaves, as well as the wet ground and standing water in places below sometimes.  The birds, insects, amphibians, and ??? are active and becoming more vocal, this was the aftermath of a thunderstorm in Ecuador.
