With previous releases on Delusions of Grandeur, Voyeurythm and more, UK producer Ben Sun delivers a gorgeous blend of deep textures that hearken back to the golden era of NY and Chicago with his Distant Messenger EP on Razor-N-Tape. On the A-side, Transmission has all the vibey goodness of an early Strictly Rhythm record, while Sable Sun scuba dives into Larry Heard territory with lush pad swells and squelching acid lines. On the flip, the emotive motion of Tremors builds through hypnotic arpeggiated synths, a slow-rolling bassline and crystalline melodies, and the record finishes in proto-house territory with the Peech Boys era Larry Levan-inspired Red Light. This EP may wear its influences on its sleeve, but it looks (and sounds) classy as hell.

Nova Danse à l’Embuscade de la Major. C’est une première et c’est à Marseille. On ne me parlera pas d’heureux hasard dans une ville qui quoiqu’on en dise, quoiqu’on en pense, est à jamais la première ! Première donc de ces Nova Danse, le nouveau rendez-vous des clubbers sur les ondes de Nova, le premier soir du week-end. Fini la teuf d’appart, désormais chaque vendredi de 22h à minuit, Nova et son Manège à Trois s’invitent dans un club et convient un ou plusieurs DJs pour un set en direct sur les ondes. Pour cette première, Smael B, les deux Théo, Wizman et Sebald, et Malo Williams convie à l’Embuscade de la Major, l’antre hivernal du Borderline crew, la paire Dub Striker, Wilko et Olivier qui croisent incunables et nouveautés house. Ni plus, ni moinse ! On est bien à l’Embu et sur les ondes. La preuve, c’est qu’ici avant et après, les gars du Manège à Trois , Smael, les deux Théo, Malo et ma zigue taquineront les platines pour un teuf plus dense encore, pour un Nova Danse à jamais le premier, donc d’entrée de jeu dans les annales ! Israeli producer Nenor delivers a 4-tracker of impeccably produced dancefloor weapons for his second outing on Razor-N-Tape. Since releasing on Moodyman’s legendary Mahogani label a few years back and as part of duo Rabo & Snob, Nenor has been honing his craft in the studio, and now puts his skills on full display on an EP that ranges from the poppy house of “How Can I Be Free” to the deep Larry Heard-esque textures of “Do You Remember,” and the gritty underground bangers of  the title track and “Work That.”  He did indeed take his time on this beautifully crafted record, and the result is something quite special.

Italian producer Ruff Stuff - which has already released on labels like !K7, Shall Not Fade, Sloth Boogie, Madhouse - returns with a self produced record on his Ruff Stuff Music label.

The EP is a solid mixture of tracks showcasing 2 sides of the producer's sound: the more dancefloor oriented one on the A Side vs the deeper and housier one on the B side.

Each of the tracks expresses in its unique way Ruff's own style and inspiration: the A side is composed by DJ tools, with 'High Club Alive' inspired by French Touch and the deeper 'Badass Groove’.

On the B side you will find more complex arrangements, more brainy tunes, with a definite House and Acid vibe.

This is a truly masterful combination of tunes by Ruff Stuff.
