Dripping Obstacles 
for an Accelerating Pendulum of FM Synths

This piece is a study in kinetic audio interference, conceived as an homage to Steve Reich’s "Pendulum Music".  

Identical FM synthesis tones, positioned at extreme points in the stereo field, interfere as they accelerate from 40 BPM to 4500 BPM. The increasing tempo functions as a secondary modulating element, introducing instability and complexity to the system.  

Non-linearities in each loudspeaker’s behavior and the influence of room acoustics contribute further unpredictability, highlighting the role of physical context in sonic perception. 

The work aims to displace conventional musical form, encouraging the listener to engage with sound as a process unfolding over time, using a very simple discipline.
