As London based Call Super is making his Dekmantel debut this summer, we figured it made sense to ask the man for a Podcast. Call Super’s highly distinctive productions and DJ-sets articulate a sense of otherness - a hazy, amorphous aesthetic that’s largely divorced from functional ‘dancefloor’ obligations, and all the better for it. With Suzi Ecto, his debut album from 2014, he has crafted an unconventional and absorbing record and continued to refine a style of music making that defies worthwhile comparison. Just like this, his Dekmantel Podcast is an engaging adventure into different niches of electronic music supplemented with some worldy tunes.

London producer Will Archer is better known as Slime. We’re not sure why, and the name certainly isn’t very indicative of his sound, but we like it. Obsessed by electronic music and the idea that the possibilities are endless, the multi-instrumentalist makes unexpected RnB that instantly takes you to a hazy place peppered with sexy sax. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend you check out his Dan Brereton-directed video for Hotdog in which, yes, a giant hotdog man walks around a lonely village by himself. As we await the release of his debut album Company, due to drop 14th August via Weird World, take time out and treat yourself to Slime’s Slumber Session. With a melange of classical and laid back classic rock, Cast yourself Away with Alan Silvestri’s iconic movie theme and soothe yourself to sleep to the comforting crackle of a record player.

Patrice Bäumel is the globetrotting producer and DJ whose music goes way beyond the dancefloor. The Dresden born ,Amsterdam based House and Techno champion grew up on a concoction of  Jazz, Depeche Mode and country music that (somehow) blossomed into a love of hardcore and gabba. Fast forwasrd a few years to when Hard Wax open a store in Dresden and Bäumel began to find his fingers on the records that would become his bread and butter.

Having been a longstanding resident at the late Trouw nightclub in Amsterdam, Patrice is more than well versed behind the decks and we are so excited to welcome him into the mix for i-D. Ahead of his set at Ibiza’s legendary Space next weekend press play on the deep tech sounds of Patrice Bäumel.

The best slumber sessions do more than just let your mind wander, they take you away to another place entirely. This one does just that. Currently counting down the days until the release of Berlin collective Average Negative’s wondrous debut vinyl LP and art book, Shadow Mountain, we’re stoked to have a mix from the project’s Sydney-based synth-pop wizard Marco Vella. Slicker than your average snoozy slumber session, his mix sets your imagination free. It is a wild camping adventure that fast-forwards through time and lets you watch as day turns to night and lush green mountain forests alive with the sounds of panpipes and flutes turn into unexplored moonlit lands littered with cicadas. Things take a turn for the industrial as the daydreamers stumble on a secret government base and inadvertently involve themselves in some real sci-fi sounding shit before – as often happens in dreams – all danger melts away to the sounds of funky psychedelic bass-slapping. “I wanted to make a mix that showcased emerging artists from around the globe that have been an inspiration to my music and myself,” explains the Sydney producer. “I also added a few tracks from the archives that were a major influence to me at the time of recording Shadow Mountain. I hope this mix doesn’t bring on the z’s, but is ‘slumber’ enough to help you kick back and blow the froth off a couple.” Mission accomplished. SlothBoogie Guestmix #01 - Rocco Raimundo

Following their sold out show at Corsica Studios last night, we welcome Grandbrothers in Hour 2 who are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. Together, they combine classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design. Their debut album Dilation was recorded using a grand piano and a series of self-built electromechanical hammers, which were triggered to ‘play’ the piano, creating new and previously undiscovered sounds. On Oct 14 a remix EP of the debut album Dilation will be released on the label FILM. It contains reinterpretations from Djrum, FaltyDL, Portable Sunsets and Grand Optimist. They told us;
"The mix is a collection of recent favorites of us with no intention to stay in one style. It ended up being 59min, and we needed 60min - so the day before it was aired we recorded an improvised intro during a soundcheck in Dublin."
