I wrote this song to capture the vibe of an elderly couple sitting on a park bench. I was going for an innocent, sentimental sort of vibe that might be used as background soundtrack for a scene in a movie, or a TV ad. To capture this sentimental, old-fashioned vibe, I made use of my favorite quirky-sounding instrument the Dobro, along with my favorite innocent-sounding rhythm instrument, the Ukulele, to add a bounce to the accompaniment. I used the Dobro in the same way that a slide trombone might be used in a song like this, to add that old-time kind of southern sound to the piece.

This is an electronica track that I created that could be used for a corporate video, ad, or website. This track is a medium tempo techno soundbed that builds to a dramatic ending

The Voyage

The Awakening is a thoughtful instrumental piece I wrote with guitar, strings, and synthesizer. The song started as a solo guitar piece after exploring a dropped tuning that I'd setup for teaching a guitar student to play the guitar part to the song "Yesterday" by the Beatles. I loved the way this guitar sounded in the dropped tuning and decided to write my own solo piece with it. I added strings, harp, and a synth part to fill out the song.

The Awakening

This song was inspired by a building I saw in Barcelona, Spain that was designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi in 1877. His buildings are works of art that seem to be from another time and place. It moved me to see this one lit up at night. I had this feeling stuck in my head for weeks after seeing it, and wrote this song to capture that feeling. I used Ukulele, Classical Guitar, Bass, and Strings for the arrangement.

Morning Inspirational Theme

I wrote this piece as a meditation after looking back on my life in recent years, as my kids are growing up. I was looking through some old family photos as we prepared for my youngest daughter's wedding, and decided to write a piece to capture this feeling.

Keepsakes

This music was written to depict a triumphant battle scene. I used orchestra, synths, cinematic percussion, and electric guitars to create a sound bed that slowly builds to climax at the ending.

Triumphant Battle

Mid-tempo Surf guitar instrumental capturing the sound of early 60s surf music by groups such as The Ventures, and Hank Marvin (The Shadows). I used a Fender BassVI for the twangy bass groove on this track, which was a popular instrument for Surf and TV Theme music during this era.

Surfboards and Coconuts

I wrote this track as a theme for comedy scenes, using elements of Funk, Cuban Jazz, and Hip Hop beats. This track was challenging and fun to put together.

Dramedy Schmamedy

I wrote this piece on guitars/Ukulele first, but then decided to make an orchestral arrangement from it to build into a larger sound toward the end. This piece was written as a soundscape that sounds hopeful and forward looking.

Journey of Hope

This is a spaghetti western piece I wrote, inspired by the music of Ennio Morricone. I recently acquired a Fender Bass VI, which is featured on the melody of this piece. The twangy baritone sound of that guitar is perfect for this kind of music. After writing the melody and changes I worked on an orchestral arrangement to fill out the sound using Ukulele, acoustic guitars, upright bass, strings, tympani, orchestra chimes, etc.

The Showdown

I'm an independent composer writing tacks for film, TV, and advertising.  My music combines elements of acoustic, indie, surf, retro, Americana, and orchestral arrangements.
