Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

“For this song we went back to the roots of all our inspirations from this heavy 80’s sound. We wanted to create something that sounded like something brand new, but brought back all the nostalgia of yesteryear. The story through the lyrics is essentially about the ups and downs of all relationships and how, no matter what happens, all you want is some sign of affection and to be shown some kind of love. It speaks to everyone no matter what kind of relationship it is, at the end of the day, you both just want to show that you love each other and that trumps all.”

“Some kind of love is probably the most time we have spent working with Lee again on the post production side of things to make sure that we are always consistently improving the quality of the product we are producing and it’s safe to say we are all very happy with how this one has turned out.”

Alec Clegg was Chief Education Officer for the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1945 to 1974. He believed in a liberal arts based education for all and held that such an approach stimulated better outcomes generally. Anyone going to a West Riding school would be encouraged to paint, draw, dance, sing, or learn a foreign language simply because it was the right thing to do. 

No-one today has ever heard of him. 

No child today escapes the grim “if-you-fail-maths-you-will-die” austerity of national curricula, academy chains and ofsted inspectors with bad hair and no dress sense.

This tune, whose first line is taken from an Ian McMillan article about Clegg, is a nostalgic howl for something better for our children.

Some exciting news from the Cafe Le Wooltone.
Today I release a song from my upcoming solo album ‘Blues, Beats and Brel' - it’s called ‘She's A Mean’ and features a live stripped back acoustic performance with merely a hint of piano (and handclaps). And production by Fran Ashcroft. 
The album splits into three styles (hence the title) based on a 'diet of old blues records, beat poetry and Jacques Brel accordion sandwiches'.
De toute facon this one fits more into the ‘Blues' scheme of things.
