This week on Topshelf we're delighted to have with us DJ / Producer and Claptrap Head Honcho, Vanity Project.

A Talented man with many fingers in many pies, Vanity Project is not just a label owner (with the previously mentioned Claptrap) but also has radio shows on both Loose FM & Voices. Then there's the collaborative projects, one with DJelley creating Memory Muscle and the other playing sticks for the brilliant Black Market Karma.

We fell in love with his work however, when we stumbled across his dreamy, 80's oozing, self titled EP in 2018 and have been hooked ever since. 
With his tracks like 'Deliberate', 'Snakeskin', 'Letters & Numbers', 'Falling Up', 'Falling Down', 'Ace' & his whole 'Lonely Hearts' EP cementing him as a master of the italo slow groove, he's also added  darker elements and electro to his work in recent years which has  delivered us treats like the 'Koko Ni Kite' EP.

With the most recent Vanity Project single 'Flamingo Heights' being an italo summer essential and with signs of production showing no stoppages, we're extremely excited to see what comes next but for now here's Topshelf 090. Enjoy.

Facta & K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint continues its busy schedule of 10 year celebrations with the debut LP by H TO O: a new collaborative project by Japanese ambient artists H. Takahashi and Kohei Oyamada.

Set across six distinct movements, the LP maps the different stages of the cosmic cycle through a series of dynamic ambient set pieces: from the exponential expansion of the universe in its infancy - here invoked by the bright, chiming album opener ‘Inflation’ - through to it’s inevitable collapse and rebirth.

Opening with Prom Night’s own ambient, drumless version – a blissful rework that sets a sunlit, introspective tone. The journey continues with Running Hot’s punchy, vocal-led house cut built for peak-time floors. B From E dives into old school progressive territory, blending rave energy with warm nostalgia, while Maruwa offers a hypnotic, percussive take rich in deep, atmospheric textures. Rounding out the EP is Kasper Bjørke’s dreamy closer, layered with his own whispered vocals for a cinematic finish.
This remix EP spans the spectrum from Balearic bliss to club-ready intensity – a versatile package for warm-ups, sunsets, and late-night dancefloors alike.
