The LP is based on ‘Ancient Astronauts’, who are believed to be pre-Columbian civilizations possessing advanced knowledge lost to the world and questions what would happen if this technology became accessible in our contemporary universe. The album sees us deciphering mysterious transmissions in the opening tracks before venturing deep into the jungle in ‘Tula’ and ‘Copal’. We enter the machine in ‘Teoria Sintergica’ and ‘Selva Lacandona’, while ‘Electromagnetica’ and ‘Dr. Grindberg’ explore the theories behind the science. Beyond any doubt, ‘Antiguos Astronautas’ is a true masterpiece of storytelling that leaves the listener yearning for more.

Known for his fusion of dub and techno influences, Mexican-Jamaican producer Andy Martin has become a staple in the South American music scene and beyond, frequently DJing in Mexico, wider Latin America and Europe. Owner of an impressive release tally across scores of international labels, he now launches the Diaspora Echoes imprint with a conceptual science fiction album titled ‘Antiguos Astronautas’, featuring artwork referencing a futuristic reinterpretation of the ancient pre-Columbian symbol for movement or motion, the ‘Ollin’.

Salu2! Por aquí Symbiosis, un dúo muy macarra de Madrid.
Llevamos más de 9 años rayando discos y montando jaleo allá donde vamos. Hemos tenido el gusto o disgusto de pasar por salas míticas como La Caracol, La Riviera, The Basement o nuestra casa Speka. 

El sonido symbiosis lo definimos como una mezcla de estilos que juntos consiguen crear una línea musical con coherencia y marcada por los contrastes. Nos gusta compararnos con un engranaje. 
Amamos aprender e innovar, hace poco hicimos un set de 8 horas con dos mesas, 4 technis y 2 CDJ junto al colectivo Suburban Alliance. Ahí pudimos enseñar partes de los diferentes estilos que tenemos en la colección y para nosotros fue muy emocionante, poder viajar de los 90 BPM a los 170 BPM es algo que nunca habíamos hecho y esperamos poder repetirlo más veces. 

En cuanto a la producción, podéis ver referencias nuestras en sellos como Newrhythmic, Combine Audio, Induxtrial Records, Analog Section o lo último que publicamos en Phase.CTV que incluye remixes de Joton y A.Morgan.

Este podcast es muy importante para nosotros por varias razones. Lo primero es porque pasamos a formar parte de los residente de Phase.CTV de manera oficial y eso nos llena el alma. También porque para esta sesión decidimos seleccionar solo clásicos de nuestra colección, música que nos lleva acompañando muchos años (algunos temas son de los primeros discos que pillamos) y por consiguiente tiene un valor sentimental especial. ¡Esperamos que os guste tanto que se la pongáis a vuestra abuela cuando os pregunte qué hacéis todos los fines de semana sin pasar por casa!

MEET OUR RESIDENTS - SYMBIOSIS #08

Argentinian producers Oscean return to Tresor with Chronium Radiance, their longest release so far, in which the duo continue the evolution of their sound, coalescing the elemental ideas explored in their first two releases and yielding sublime results.

This landmark release will no doubt be seen as the point at which Oscean crystalised a trademark sound, balancing complex percussive rhythms with pulsing and cadenced music in which a universe of often oxymoronic ideas can be found, melded together with a deft touch to create a blissful sonic whole.

There is a sense of space and airiness to side A of the record as synth parts drift across the more solid-feeling landscape of the basslines and percussion: 
Opening track ChronoRebel is a propulsive trance induction that brings forth cinematic images of billowing clouds.
This nebulous quality is continued on Neon Harmonies where the highly syncopated drum track weaves through a haze of colourful synths that while lower tempo than the previous track somehow has an energy of a faster piece.

The flip side has a denser, darker quality to it beginning with Blaster Imploder, a deep and funky track that continues the convention-defying theme by being powerful and frenetic whilst also having a soft and exultant sheen. 
This is followed by Echoes of Chaos which closes out the 12" with a dynamic beat and spacious, sweeping synths that feel as though we are passing through the atmosphere heading towards some distant nebula.

Alongside the tracks on the vinyl release, three digital tracks expand on the universe Oscean have built with a truly ecstatic love theme, a retelling of Neon Harmonies that unveils a river of dub, and a low tempo, drifting yet no-less affecting piece acting as the closing titles to our voyage to this Osceanic world.
