Breakbeat is a broad term for a style of electronic music characterized by syncopated and often sampled drum patterns, typically derived from funk, jazz, and R&B recordings. It's a foundational element in many genres, including hip-hop, jungle, drum and bass, and big beat. Breakbeats are distinct from the steady 4/4 beat found in house or techno music. 

Jungle is a high-energy electronic music genre that emerged from the UK rave scene in the early 1990s. It's characterized by fast breakbeats, heavy basslines, and a distinct blend of samples, often including elements of reggae and dancehall. It developed from breakbeat hardcore and is known for its energetic and syncopated rhythms. 

Breakcore is an intense, high-energy electronic music genre characterized by fast tempos, intricate and often distorted drum patterns, and heavy basslines, often incorporating elements from jungle, drum and bass, and hardcore techno. It's known for its frenetic energy and experimental approach to breakbeats, sometimes blurring the lines with gabber and other aggressive electronic styles.

Part 3 of the tribute mix series delving into the music of Photek, Source Direct & Hidden Agenda who were a huge musical influence on me growing up.

Rounding off the Photek & Source Direct selection with some more classics, remixes and rarer bits thrown in not included on the previous volumes.

The next instalment will finish up the series with Hidden Agenda taking centre stage before I return to hopefully upload some mixes that were lost in time.

About the release:

Deep Jungle finally makes its return from dormancy with the first in a series of vinyl releases that will be showcasing some of the 90's long lost treasures. This first release back sees two unreleased mid nineties gems from none other than the mighty Dillinja!! Both tracks are sourced from the original DAT tapes and they have been mastered by the grand master Simon @ The Exchange, a true mastering wizard and someone who has engineered some of the most respected releases to date.

The A side "Another Dimension", originally from 1994, shows us Dillinja's softer melodic side on the intro, before unleashing the Reese danger on the drop. This moody roller is perfect for those of you who have been craving some more of his 94 era productions, that really takes you on a journey straight back to that time...
