Jody Bio:
For nearly three decades, Jody Porter has helped shape the sound of rock & roll's underground and mainstream, thanks to a string of projects — from the Belltower, whose shoegazing guitars helped set the scene for Brit-pop's explosion in the early 1990s, to Fountains of Wayne, whose power-pop songs earned Grammy nominations and Top 40 certifications — that shine a light on his strength as a singer, songwriter, and electric guitarist. 

After logging years as a bandmate, though, Porter reclaims the spotlight for himself with Month of Mondays, his second album as a solo artist. Inspired by the raw, riff-heavy rock of his childhood influences — the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street, Elvis Costello, the Kinks — as well as the modern texture and technology of Brian Eno, it's an album built on grit, groove and guitar. Porter plays nearly every instrument himself, too, matching his six-string slash-and-burn with contributions on the drums, bass, microphone, and keyboards. The result is a record that fires twin barrels of pure melody and Marshall Stacked muscle, proof that Porter — who kicked off his solo career with 2008's Close to the Sun, after 10 years of serving in Fountains of Wayne's crew — shines just as brightly when captaining his own ship.
