A little over a year ago we welcomed Semantica Records owner, Svreca to London for his On the 5th Day debut and as expected, were blown away and inspired to the max, not only by his musical prowess, addictive zeal and skills behind the decks, but by his unshakeable values and rock solid vision.

Our belief in what we’re striving for with On the 5th Day was excelled to new levels thanks to our encounter and after just a few short hours hanging out in the studio, it hit us that that moment was potentially the beginning of a very exciting twist in our story.

We weren’t wrong!

Not long after that, Svreca agreed to be our resident for 2018, pledging to work with us to create three separate line-ups throughout the year, at which he would also play. So far, we’ve danced our way through an incredible night with Luigi Tozzi and Psyk back in January - absolutely one for the books - and we’ve locked July 21st in London’s techno diary with ASC and Hydrangea. Svreca’s final appearance of the year will take place in November and the night is guaranteed to be another humdinger!

We’re beyond excited to be welcoming the sensational Hydrangea to Corsica Studios on 21st July, an incredible DJ and producer based in France but making beautiful, earthly ripples on the deep and atmospheric techno realms around the world; her personal ethos which can be felt throughout her music being: “Look deeper into nature and you will understand everything better.” We couldn’t agree more.

To immerse yourself in the sounds of Hydrangea is to immerse yourself in nature itself and with the attention given to her music - both productions and mixes - comes a very natural state of inner peace, acceptance and hopefulness. Spiritual techno, we like to call it, infused with atmospheric soundscapes and often deep, rolling, dub-like grooves grounding you like the roots of a tree. Pay a visit to Annulled Music and Natch Records to delve through her multiple releases, or of course settle into this very beautiful podcast recorded just for On the 5th Day to hear what we mean.

Hydrangea’s deep, contemplative sound, her talent for storytelling and the solidarity of her vision which radiates through everything that she does makes her a perfect artist for an On the 5th Day techno tale, and it was just a case of waiting for the perfect opportunity to lock her in. Svreca, who will make his second On the 5th Day residency appearance on the 21st of this month, shares the same sentiment when it comes to Hydrangea, which is why together we wholeheartedly agreed she belonged on this line up; and is also why her music has found itself on the Semantica label. We know Svreca is thrilled to be sharing a line up with her, and to be seeing her making her London debut.

As if her musical talents weren’t enough, Hydrangea is also a photographer and graphic designer, producing the visual work for the Inveins podcast series which captures the beauty of nature in its trust essence, as well as working on artwork for multiple releases and projects. The biggest, most badass love goes out to Sam KDC who has gifted us with an absolutely astounding podcast (#064) ahead of his On the 5th Day appearance at Corsica Studios on September 1st. If you’ve been an avid collector of game-changing, quality techno and experimental over recent years then you’ll most likely know the score. Sam KDC (aka Samuel Wood) is a devoted boundary pusher within the electronic music field, producing since 2002 and making his own solid and hugely significant mark during the years that followed. Working closely alongside fellow musician ASC (James Clements), Sam KDC played a critical role in shaping the revolutionary vision of ASC’s Auxiliary label, contributing a multitude of releases along the way, helping to ensure it became the go to for deep, “outside the box” techno that it is today. He and ASC are also the pioneers behind the unique style that inspired Grey Area, a label collaboration between Samurai and Auxiliary, uniting 128 bpm with 170/85 bpm in a seamless, polyrhythmic, big impact manner.

As demonstrated herewith, Sam KDC’s mind-bending approach to techno and experimental, and the characteristics and complexities of his style - with its multiple BPMs and dynamic, shifting hearty pulse - culminate in an almighty rhythmic hurricane fuelled by a strong emotional power, sweeping you through mountainous peaks and caverns before releasing you in a breathless heap on the floor! His meticulously controlled sets, vibrating with depth and tension make it impossible to turn your attention elsewhere… and the good news is there’s plenty more where this came from when Sam is united with Corsica’s better than ever almighty sound system on September 1st. Her musical journey began on the piano at the tender age of 4 and evolved to embrace techno in all its glory once she hit her teens. As we approach the 100th addition to our podcast stream, we bring you a deep and alluring trip courtesy of electronic music duo, Binary Thoughts.

This week we bring you Berlin based DJ, Justine Perry, one of the fierce and fearless female talents working their magic in the deep, hypnotic and ambient worlds. As a proud part of the LGBT community, she’s a huge advocate for helping to nurture a more safe and diverse scene, where more women and queer artists are given the opportunities to share their creativity, while fighting against any form of discrimination.

Justine works closely with label, podcast series and event promoter, Art Bei Ton (for which she is also a resident), helping to bring more female artists to the forefront. Drawn to techno for its ability to bring us all together in moments of complete, boundary-free unity, her deep and dark DJ sets and mixes are the perfect extension of this love.
