Avec le fils du voisin qui joue au basket; le vent dans les arbres, la circulation automobile et les avions, le jardinage, les oiseaux...

Alytes Accoucheurs

My mother lives in Rome, in the house where I grew up. 
It is a ground floor apartment with garden in the suburban district of Forte Bravetta, although the GRA is a few kilometers away, the area is very green and relatively quiet. 
From an early age I was fascinated by the sound of birds in the early morning, sometimes it was so loud that it bothered me and woke me up. 
Today I tried to fix that memory and I am happy that that "noise" can still be heard so loud.


Mia madre abita a Roma, nella casa dove sono cresciuto. 
E' un appartamento al piano terra con giardino nel quartiere periferico di Forte Bravetta, nonostante il GRA sia pochi km di distanza, la zona e molto verde e relativamente silenziosa. 
Fin da piccolo ero affasciato dal suono degli uccelli la mattina presto, a volte era così forte che mi dava fastidio e mi svegliava. 
Oggi ho provato a fissare quel ricordo e sono felice che quel "rumore" si riesca ad ascoltare ancora cosi forte.

Recorded at Lake Nuga Nuga, Queensland on a warm summer morning. The sounds of Pied & Grey Butcherbirds carry across the lake from the forested edge along with the songs of many other bushland birds. Crickets trill from the grasses near the water and the hum of bees fill the air. Australian Pelicans patrol the lake, splashing in the water as they hunt for fish.

On 4/22/22, I headed to the Ellicott Rock Wilderness in the Southern Nantahala National Forest in pursuit of capturing pure nature sounds.

This trip was incredibly successful, yielded many noise-pollution-free recordings, and treated me to the beautiful sound of spring in this remote region.

DEMO: Southern Nantahala Wilderness

The small island Juist in Ostfriesland / Germany offers unusual acoustic neighborhoods of birds that usually cannot be heard together. The island is rather long but very slender, only about one kilometer from one coast to the other, with a lake in between. So, in the background chorus (which is rather quiet, listening with headphones is recommended) one can hear amongst many others: curlews, redshanks, oystercathers – Birds of the Wadden – brent geese, white-fronted geese, blackbirds, Robins – birds of the inland – that meet with arctic terns and seagulls of the ocean coast. The constant rumble comes from the North Sea waves behind some sand dunes.
Two soloists decide to enter the stage: a song thrush at 0:52 and later, after 5 minutes of only background chorus – a wren.
The recording is part of an unattended overnight recording, it starts somewhere around 5:15 am.

An adult bull bison grazes along Slough Creek in the northern part of Yellowstone National Park in May 2021. This recording was captured using a Sound Devices Mix-Pre 6 digital audio recorder and Sennheiser MKH 20 omnidirectional microphones placed in a homemade binaural housing.
