Il y a deux ans, Gilles Peterson, DJ et producteur, père de l’Acid-Jazz, se rend à Cuba à l’invitation de Havana Cultura. De cette expérience jaillit un double album, Havana Cultura : New Cuba Sound, réalisé avec la fine fleur de la scène underground locale.

En 2011, Gilles Peterson nous présente Havana Cultura : The Search Continues..., deuxième volet de ses aventures cubaines. Il renoue avec les artistes du premier volume, Roberto Fonseca et Danay Suarez, et réunit une équipe de production venue de Londres (son complice Vince Vella ainsi que le DJ français Simbad). Dans la même lignée que le précèdent, ce nouvel épisode propose toujours deux disques.

Le premier CD est une véritable création originale produite par Gilles. Il est constitué de titres enregistrés avec le «Havana Cultura Band», dirigé par le pianiste Roberto Fonseca. 

Le second compile seize morceaux choisis par Gilles et composés par les plus grands noms de la musique cubaine actuelle. Une sélection éclectique mêlant hip‐hop,  reggaetón,  jazz,  funk ou classiques cubains.

Le studio Abdalá a vu défiler tout ce que la Havane compte de talents créatifs et novateurs. Des artistes dont la réputation n’est plus à faire et de nouvelles pépites sont à découvrir dans ce fantastique portrait d’une ville à la vitalité culturelle hors du commun.

A little background on this EP... They were both used in a short ballet documentary directed by Marta Lillioja. The name of the EP is called after the movie! The movie will also play internationally in film festivals, which I'm very excited about!

Our Russian exotic step brothers have their own elegant and distinctive sound that carefully balances musical emotion with signature beats. Equally at home on the dance floor as well as your lounge floor in your Spotify playlist. 

Nikolai has been a long time fan of Peter Broderick and was given the opportunity to work with him last year. He (and Dimitri) took Peter's vocals and created something quite beautiful, both in Ambient form as well as the 4:4 version. Ta da! Their new EP was well on it's way to completion. 

Seeing as I'm never satisfied though I insisted they stayed up late for another week and the result was L'eternite. Harking back to one of their first releases (Calinerie) on the label this subtle melodic bomb will be heard as the sun sets or the sun rises across the universe this Summer.
