Deeply rooted in the club culture of their hometown for over a decade, Manchester’s Mason Collective’s rise from local promoters to become one of the international scene’s most in demand acts is a clear demonstration of their unique talent. Following their striking two-track EP ‘A Little Affection’ for sister label DFTD, the trio now debut on London house institution Defected with ‘People In Love’ featuring fellow Mancunian singer-songwriter Bipolar Sunshine. Regularly playing in Ibiza this summer for the likes of Paradise, The Martinez Brothers’ residency at Hï and Defected’s own weekly parties, ‘People In Love’ now emerges as a late entry for potential record of the season, its chugging bassline and decadent synth-work making a club-ready backdrop for Bipolar Sunshine’s ethereal vocal.

Pilot is one of the many labels in the orbit of the irrepressible James 'Burnski' Burnham. Its next outing is from M-HIGH who perfectly slots into the label's classy minimal and tech sound world. Things open up with 'Same Routine' which is a turbocharged sound with frazzled bass and thumping kicks. 'On My Own Supply' has a touch of the old school to it with the unbridled joy of the dancing piano chords and big, bulky beats. 'Same Routine' then gets a space-tech rework from Wodda and Hatori's live Bass remix brings some lush cosmic synth swirls and bumping drums.

His status as a house innovator has been cemented through new ventures, including the launch of thriftshoppe with partner Olena Ferrer, and this highly anticipated label debut from an NYC legend heralds Classic’s 30th anniversary. Starting as a collaboration between Girls of the Internet’s Tom Kerridge and UK soul sensation Sophie Faith, ‘Affirmations’ was released in summer of 2023 prior to the collective’s full-length LP When I Was Lost, I Found Myself. Dennis Ferrer completely transforms ‘Affirmations’, taking Tom Kerridge’s emotive production and giving it undeniable synth bounce mixed with NYC grit, with Anelisa Lamola’s tender yet powerful vocals stretched and pulled to create rhythmic intricacies.

After two acclaimed releases on Up The Stuss, ‘Sense Of Future’ in 2023 and ‘Synergy’ in 2024, Across Boundaries, the collaborative project of Chris Stussy and Locklead, return with their most expansive and fully realised statement to date. Set for release on 5th September 2025, ‘Sakura’ brings an eight-track, double vinyl package oﬀering a deep dive into the duo’s evolving partnership, showcasing a sound that is as intricate and emotive as it is dancefloor-focused.

The making of the EP reflects an organic approach, with the pair taking to the Dutch wilderness for a series of weekend-long studio retreats, temporarily transforming remote natural spaces into creative sanctuaries. These escapes, surrounded by forests and wildlife, allowed the pair to step away from traditional studio environments and reconnect with the pure essence of their music. This intentional isolation sparked fresh ideas and textures, infusing the project with an expansive and reflective atmosphere - one that captures the contrast of raw nature and the precise electronic craftsmanship to capture crowds.

Musically, the eight-tracker moves fluidly between moods and rhythms, reflecting the layered creative process behind it. The title track ‘Sakura’ opens with a hypnotic groove that blooms into a textured soundscape, while 'The Funktion' rides tight, infectious, and tunnelling energy. Deeper cuts like ‘A Love Letter…’ reveal a hazy, introspective side, contrasting with the elevating energy of ‘Da Resurrection’. The EP’s range demonstrates Across Boundaries’ growing confidence in exploring diverse facets of house music, blending melody, groove, and atmosphere into a seamless journey.

This release not only marks their largest project under the Across Boundaries moniker, but also signals the maturation of a longtime musical and personal bond between its members. Longtime friends, Chris and Locklead’s collaborative process has evolved into an intuitive dialogue, where ideas flow freely and the boundaries of their sound continue to expand. This latest project is the latest chapter in this ongoing exploration; a cohesive, complete body of work that reflects their shared vision and commitment to pushing house music forward.
