Rock Climbing

First written in English, our singer Laura felt this bittersweet song better in her native French. Only the bridge survived in the original English. Like most songs from the band, it came together very quickly during a rehearsal. It then went through the band’s powerful arrangement machine to become this 6 minute adventure, ending in a climactic outro that displays the full power of the 8 piece ensemble. Amande

Slow and yet burning. Our latest single is about the singular pain of falling helplessly in love but being the only one to do so. Suggested by our saxophonist Sebastian, this song was inspired by Coldplay’s “Sparks“. We kept making room in the arrangement for Sebastian’s melodies and Laura’s lyrics until it felt like our song. It’s hazy because such love is overwhelming and unbalanced. It needs to be a secret first if it wants a chance to survive. But sometimes it still burns out; like the passionate solo that closes the song.

Trapped In Forever

Sunburns is the first song of the band written by our bassist Ludo. He wrote it initially as a guitar arrangement before bringing it to the others. That’s when everyone felt that the song needed to take a sharp Brazilian turn. With bossa rhythms, a playful pandeiro and Sebastian’s airy flute, cementing it firmly in a summery place, hopefully somewhere sunnier than the Parisian suburbs. It’s also Ludo’s first attempt at lyric writing, with which he tried to demonstrate that you can get sunburned, even in the middle of the night, on the inside; usually by a girl.

Sunburns

The band's first album, Mad Weather Good Friends, was the child of endless jams, of instrumental pieces that keep on going, crumble and rise again throughout the solos. For Broken Glass, if Laura Wamba lends her face to the cover, it is not by chance. This time it’s an album made of songs.

Songs mean lyrics, and this kind of writing, different from the one musicians are used to, they all took head on. Addiction, emotional dependency, loneliness, love and escapism are approached in terms broad enough for everyone to find themselves in. The words are chosen; the interpretation is free.

The WPTC trademark is still there: this richness in the arrangements and a wealth of influences. Snarky Puppy and their Family Dinner(s) as the immovable patron saints, followed closely by Supertramp and Pink Floyd, the ambient of Aphex Twin or the soul of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak in Silk Sonic.

They claim the right, in 2023, to write real intros (Trapped In Forever) and outros (Amande). The atmosphere is subdued, but a few rays of sunshine sometimes pierce through the synthesizers (Sunburns and Peppo). 

And if these arrangements don’t suit you, go and see them live: they will remind you that they are jazz musicians first and that, under penalty of losing their membership card, nothing will be played the same way twice.

Who Parked The Car is an ever-shifting blend of soul, jazz, funk and electronica.
The 8-piece band is made up of young musicians coming from France and Latin America (Argentina, Honduras). They enjoy taking elements from jazz and popular styles of music to explore a wide variety of grooves, textures and emotions.
Snarky Puppy, Louis Cole, Liane La Havas, Jill Scott, Robert Glasper, Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, Earth Wind & Fire, Weather Report, Stevie Wonder, Supertramp, are among the many influences they like to mention.
They released two albums “Mad Weather Good Friends” (2022) and "Broken Glass" (2023).
