“In Bloom” is the name of the debut album from the Danish neo-soul group Djeff, and in many ways, it reflects both their process as a group and their experience individually. The making of the album started with the recording of songs mid-april 2016 over the course of only four days, with all songs being recorded in a live environment provided by Kulturhus Silkeborg. This environment was important in the creation of the organic sound present throughout the record, and was chosen purposely in opposition to the perfectionistic layer-by-layer method by which most records are made today.

The process was characterized by a constructive exchange of opinions regarding aesthetics, and much like in an uncontrolled ecosystem in nature, the record grew wildly until it became an entity in and of itself: the sound of neither of the musicians as individuals, but rather the collective blooming of the groups sound through experimentation and deliberation.

With the release of “In Bloom”, Djeff claims its place as one of the few neo-soul groups in Scandinavia – this is their homage and contribution to a growing and promising Nordic branch of the genre.
