Viridu is an age-old narrative poetry art form in Sri Lanka that involves a singer performing in public places, singing verses about current events and common interests. Thus, entertaining people in trains and buses. The repetitive rhythm of a Viridu song on the beat of rabanna (tambourine) gets every listener’s attention.

WIN used this existing popular art form to create awareness about sexual harassment in public transport. WIN created a new song, in association with Ratthi, that carries a strong message for predators lurking in buses and trains. The song also speaks to bystanders and encourages them to come forward to help women.

WIN also created an app that acts as a device to fight all kinds of abuse and harassment. This ‘2Six4’ app helps women contact their friends, families and nearest police station with just a click. It is available for download on App Store and Google Play. Thus, helping create a safe environment for women in public transport.
