Regardless, I figured there had to be a song buried under all the rubble.

It's been a while since I've uploaded a cover version, so what better than  a version of this whimsical little dittie of Baroque pop written by Geoff Stephens and Les Reed.
It's been recorded by a number of artists over the years, however, I modeled my version from the Herman's Hermits recording from 1967

December 1980. I can remember it so well. 
I was 11 years old and  It was the year and the month that the two most important people in my life were taken out of the equation. John Lennon and my Gran.
I was lucky enough to have an old man who sandblasted the likes of The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly etc etc into my ears from a very early age, hence I regarded John Lennon as an extra father figure, so to speak. John Lennon was murdered on the 8th of Dec. My Gran, my old man's mum died on the 25th Dec.
This version of Just like starting over is dedicated to John Lennon, Elizabeth Beveridge Cummings and not to mention my old man Robert Cummings. Love and peace to you all, I miss you xx.

"(Just Like) Starting Over" was the first single released from Double Fantasy and the first new recording Lennon had released since he left the music industry in 1975. It was chosen by Lennon not because he felt it was the best track on the album, but because it was the most appropriate following his five-year absence from the recording industry. He referred to it during production as the "Elvis/Orbison" track, as he "tongue in cheek" impersonated their vocal styles; at the start of the 2010 "Stripped Down" version of the song, Lennon says "this one's for Gene, and Eddie, and Elvis... and Buddy."
It was Lennon's last single released in his lifetime.
