A small taste of Above & Beyond's forthcoming album 'Acoustic II'. The trio will perform with a full band at some of the world's most iconic venues including London's Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and LA's Hollywood Bowl.

Above & Beyond are a phenomenon unlike any other in dance music. Grammy-nominated songwriters, they are the only British dance act to sell out Madison Square Garden as DJs, and yet are about to take an 18-piece band set up on a sold out tour of the world's most iconic concert halls: including London's Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and Hollywood Bowl to name just three.

A show described by Billboard as “one of the finest in dance music history”, the tour - and accompanying Acoustic II studio album - represents yet another against-the-odds landmark in the unique story of Above & Beyond. Venues that normally take years of hard touring to reach are sold out on only the band's second acoustic tour - you are left wondering: just how do they do it?

The secret is in the songs. Sung back at them by thousands at their celebratory DJ sets, Above & Beyond's tales of life, love and loss have soundtracked weddings, proposals, hikes up Everest, marathons and funerals - stories which are tweeted and emailed in to A&B HQ each week. The lyrics have been plastered on festival signs, provided solace for fans in hard times and have been tattooed with pride by thousands of fans.

Following last year's critically acclaimed electronic album, “We Are All We Need”, Above & Beyond Acoustic II revisits several of the best loved songs from that album and as well as classics from Above & Beyond’s wide back catalogue and reworks them for concert halls rather than clubs; breathing new life and context into them.

Under the supervision of musical director Bob Bradley, the legendary trio have reworked a total of 13 tracks into rich, string-laden band arrangements that reference Portishead, Angelo Badalamenti and movie soundtracks with a uniquely Above & Beyond idiosyncrasy.

Reaching back into their individual musical histories, each member of Above & Beyond performs different parts of the arrangements, including Jono on Rhodes, Tony on guitar and vocals, and Paavo on grand piano. Celebrated A&B collaborator Zoë Johnston sings on re-imagined dancefloor anthems like “We're All We Need” and “Alchemy”, and is joined by a host of other contributing vocalists from Above & Beyond's past and present. Completing the ensemble, string quartets and percussion sections provide a big room feel of a completely different kind.

Dutch producer / percussionist extraordinaire – Feiertag, releases his second EP – The Rituals the 20th of May on Boogie Angst. 

It’s a fine collection of electronica with flashes of house, nu disco, soul and pop in a thoroughly pleasing aural concoction. With guest vocals from the supremely talented Tessa Rose Jackson and Colin Lee over Feiertag’s crisp productions, it’s a polished, melodic body of work continuing to build on his signature sound he started to establish with ‘High Expectations’. 

Another great record coming out of the Boogie Angst camp that’s nicely chilled but no less danceable. Exactly what you’d expect when Kraak & Smaak are covering A&R duties. 

Opener Sunday Mornings is a relaxed track at ease with the world. Ethereal side chained synths and soulful vocal lines play over a steady analogue groove - it’s the musical equivalent of a weekend stroll through a field in summer. Beautiful. 

Tessa Rose Jackson provides beautifully melodic vocals on The Parachute – an indie electronica tune with pop and soul leanings. Laden with glistening synths and almost sound design like guitar lines. It’s a gorgeous piece that will leave listeners uplifted 

Featuring the soulful vocal talents of Colin Lee, Down To You is a tasteful track combining house and electronica with a less-is-more attitude. Carefully accented with echoed percussive fills - it’s a laid back affair with reverb drenched synth pads subtly evolving around the drum peaks and troughs. 

Body & Soul closes the collection flitting between broken beats and nu disco showcasing the versatility of Feiertag’s drum chops as well as his production skills. It’s a head nodding tune that builds up to an ending of hypnotic layers of tuned percussion lines that leave you wanting more.

Released on Phantasy October 7th, 'Black Crow' is the third single to be taken from the album. Part American Gothic, part future movie soundtrack, it’s a song of haunting beauty. Holly Miranda's vocal glides across reflective strings and delicate crystalline snippets of sound, resulting in an epic torch song lament. This time around we welcome a stellar lineup; six Anjunadeep alumni in Luttrell, Michael Cassette, Antic, Marsh, Just Her, and Fluida, and two label debutants in Wassu and Elif, all of whom will be playing at Anjunadeep: Explorations in Albania this summer.

An update on his 2016 belter ‘Need You’, Luttrell’s ‘Need You Now’ makes special use of his own vocals, building to a euphoric finish typical of the Beatport top ten producer.

After 8 years, Michael Cassette returns with the nostalgic ’Shadows Movement (Solar Energy Remake)’. An update on his 2008 label classic, the cut affirms Cassette’s high-energy production is as powerful as ever.

His fourth release on Anjunadeep, Antic’s mesmerisingly intense ‘Next Time’ plies his own vocals amongst a deep, acid-led arrangement perfect for those late hot nights.

A sure staple of summer 2019, ‘Like You’ is a collaboration between Marsh and New York producer and friend Wassu (FKA Weston Butler). This sweet cut sees Marsh’s own vocal drift on top of a sublime chord progression and distant field recordings.

A darker turn, Just Her’s invigorating ‘Nothing But Time’ marks the Brighton-based producer and Essential New Tune recipient’s third Explorations appearance.

Exotic duo Fluida return to Anjunadeep for their third release ‘Indian Kicks’; the track’s uplifting arrangement and rousing percussion stemming from samples of their own field recordings in India.

Closing out the release is the enlivening ‘Random Act of Kindness’, from label debutant Elif. Istanbul born, Amsterdam-based, Elif’s nomadic lifestyle is reflected in her multi-faceted production.

Marsh & Wassu - Like You

Following on from the release of 'Solar Nights', the critically acclaimed 2nd album from German producer Tim Bernhardt, aka Satin Jackets, Eskimo Recordings have turned to a hand picked selection of up & coming producers and old friends to reinterpret several of the album's key tracks. 

If anyone was going to do justice to 'Athena', Satin Jackets and Anduze's tribute to the Greek capital it was surely going to be label regular, and resident of said city, NTEIBINT and perfectly capturing the track's laid back bittersweet nature, NTEIBINT turns in a remix as fresh as a Peloponnese breeze at the end of long hot summer's day.

Whilst Bernhardt is already at work on new material these remixes offer a satisfying postscript to 'Solar Nights', offering alternative takes sure to soundtrack discos, festivals and pool parties throughout the summer and beyond.
