'Greek artist Filippos follows up his superb last outing on connected with another collaboration. This time, he links with Moroccan vocalist Kawtar Sadik, while Mr. ID remixes.

Filippos hails from Thessaloniki, a city whose nightlife drew him in from a young age. His rich house music is influenced by Afro rhythms and percussion, as well as the warm and sunny climes of his homeland. This lends it a unique flavour that has seen him release on Open Bar Music, Madorasindahouse Records and connected with 2020's excellent 'Kairetu.'

This new EP opens with 'By The Water,' a track laced with gritty guitar licks and intriguing synths all intertwined with a hypnotic vocal that muses on the water spirit. It is a heavy groove, but one that is laced up with fluid and escapist melodies.

The fantastic 'Fortunate' has psychedelic bass that undulates over a solid four-four beat. Deft synths drift in and out of focus to bring an extra sense of motion as the beautiful wailing vocal passages bring a worldly and organic charm.

Remixing 'Fortunate' is Mr. ID, an artist deeply linked to the city of Casablanca. He draws on a love of US rap beats, jazz spirituality and funk rhythms as well as the inspiration that comes from traditional Moroccan and African sounds to create his unique music. His excellent version is built on muscular drums and bass, soft shakers and the distinctly magical sounds of the flute. It all adds up to a gorgeously musical track with authentic conga patterns finishing it in style.

This new EP reconfirms that connected is the most essential afro house label in the scene.'

Feeling, technical dexterity, and raw emotional expression play out across the “little stories” of this release, as Aaroon puts it.

Next up on the Madorasindahouse trip around the world’s sounds, we envision the Sub-saharan vibe, mixed with electronica, organic, and afro by some of the most exciting producers of the genre.

Sound Of Mint, deliver two originals, Ya Sidi and Waiting To Fly, collaborating with Farasha, Yahya, Sami Chaouki, and Samba Diabate, exploring the ground between downtempo and afro house. The duo is comprised of Fadel Lahlou, the Moroccan DJ and producer, and Joel Pellegrini, the award-winning percussionist and film composer. 

On the remix side, Ali Kuru strengthens the Greek-Turkish connection with his own musical voice. The Crosstown Rebels / Sol Selectas producer, focuses on his slow textured deep beats version of Ya Sidi, while the celebrated Kenyan remixer Saint Evo, captures the African spirit of the song, transforming it into a modern afro house anthem. To top it up, Valeron makes one more version of Ya Sidi, perfect for that Mykonian sunrise at the beach of Scorpios, a style that he has perfected of the years of his residency at the legendary Cycladic venue.

Sparrow & Barbossa (Swiss Bryan Coletta and Uruguayan Emiliano Haberli) are a globetrotting DJ and production duo that are true lovers of ethnic and lost cultures and are devoted to transmitting this legacy through electronic music. As the world’s dance floors opened back up after lockdown, the duo were struck by how their music resonated with fans. “People told us how our music went with them through depression and through COVID, and it helped them,” they said. These emotional exchanges became the creative spark for their sophomore longplayer, Réciprocité.
 
The album consists of 14 tracks that showcase Sparrow & Barbossa’s vast range and musical maturity. Amongst the organic and electronic Latin house sounds is a dizzying and intoxicating adventure through time zones, dance floors, and generations. “We travel and gather so much energy from people. When they listen to our music and come to events it gives us energy and we wanted to take that energy and transmit it back through the album,” says Bryan (Sparrow). “This is our way of saying thank you to fans.”
 
The duo’s love of global influences manifests in collaborations on 12 of the album’s tracks, including appearances from artists based in Spain, Cuba, Turkey, Rwanda, and beyond. These include inspired performances by singer Maria de Moraes, who is the daughter of Brazilian bossa nova legend Vinicius de Moraes, Lion King musical singer Phindile Ndlovu, flamenco singer Osaba, Elektrofon, Turkish pop singer Kaan Akalin, Kenyan Afro-House singer-songwriter and performer Idd Aziz, Zimbabwean singer Vuyo Brown, and Turkish flutist Eyüpcan Açıkpazu.
 
Hector Romero, A&R Director at Orianna, first encountered Sparrow & Barbossa in 2018, and has watched their meteoric rise to underground cult-like stardom in that short period of time. “Earlier this year the boys shared a sketch of the album and once I heard it, I knew it was a great fit for Orianna. Réciprocitéshowcases some of their most intelligent and well-crafted compositions to date and is a testament to their evolution as artists. Myself, Dusko Justic, and the entire team are proud to represent them and assist them in getting to their next phase as live performing artists.” 
 
The release of Réciprocité follows three single drops from the album earlier this year, including “Condenao” with Spanish salsero vocalist and producer G.Zamora, “Bien Buena” with Cuban vocalist Eribertho Cruz, “Vagabundo” with flamenco vocalist and guitarist Chico Castillo (known as “The Gypsy”), along with what is arguably Sparrow & Barbossa’s sexiest tune to date, the June 1st release of “After Saturday Night”.

If you consider the album as a listening expierence with a stong focus on storytelling, the twelve inches shift your focus to the dancier side of things.

To get things started, Mr Raoul K teams up with Pablo Fierro and they unleash 'Ancestral'. At the beginning, the dynamic duo puts its instrumental track in the back and let B`Utiza's great vocals carry the track. After grooving along with lots of percussion and their subtle yet sincere drums, Pablo and Raoul finish the track with energy and all their musical skills on full display.
On the flipside, Pablo Fierro flexes his dancefloor muscle on 'Bara' (of African Paradigm EP II fame). Pounding drums and vocal snippets echoing back and forth pave the way for Ahmed Sosso's vocals. After some kind of call and response between vocals and the growing instrumental tracks, Pablo unleashes the track's full power around the five minute mark and goes with flow until the very end.
On the second track Mr Raoul K and Manoo strip down 'Bara' to its bare essentials. It's just the groove and a looped vocal snippet. After a quite while a little buildup with some keyboards and strings. A hypnotizing dub with every piece in position to really please the late crowd - including a long beatless outro...
