I have a special episode for today in honor of Jodie Sweetin's (Stephanie) Birthday (January 19).

Today, I covered Full House S5E8: Gotta Dance, which aired on November 5, 1991.

In this episode In this episode, Stephanie pleads Danny to let her take an intense dance program, but Danny only gives in because he wasn't able to fulfill his dream of being a high jumper. Soon Stephanie decides that she doesn't want to do the intense program any more because it consumes too much of her life, but Danny is living his dreams simultaneously through her. so Stephanie purposely screws up so that she might not have to dance anymore. Becky wants Jesse to come to her baby shower but everyone knows that Jesse would never want to come, so she tricks him into coming. But Michelle gives in to telling Jesse the truth when he bribes her with ice cream.

I really liked this episode, it showed us how Stephanie throws herself into dancing before school and after school and soon it consumes her every waking thought until she realizes she's overcommitting herself and missing out on fun family activities like the baby shower.

All it takes is DJ planting the seed of doubt by telling Steph "if I had your dedication" I'd have no life". Stephanie ponders this (no friends, no TV, not outside or family activities) and considers telling Danny that she wants to quit dance.

At the dance recital Danny unbeknownst to him puts more pressure on Stephanie because he mentions a dance academy summer camp director is there to see the recital and Stephanie realizes it's too much, all dancing all the time during her Summer Vacation.

Instead of admit the to Danny, she feels guilty (because she begged him to let her do this) and she interrupts the dance recital by interjecting her own dance moves into the performance. Embarrassed she runs off stage and Danny gets the truth out of her.

I love what he says to her ("let's go back to when dancing was just a part of your life and not your whole life").

Her dance classmates forgive her and they try the number again.

The side plot with the baby shower was cute, but I feel it would have been nice to have it be "a big monster blow out party before we become parents" as Becky referred to it.

Jesse tricking Michelle with a ice cream sundae to spill the beans about it actually being a baby shower, he knows her vices.

Jesse and Becky make up and agree to be honest with each other. 

Yeah, we know that won't last.

Remember later in Season 5 when he mixes up the twin babies Nicky and Alex and can't tell them apart only a few episodes later?

this is my introduction episode where I give an overview of the show The Wonder Years that ran from 1988-1993 from the creation, casting, writing, to it's ultimate cancellation. I also discuss my plans for the future of this new podcast.

If you're a fan of the show The Wonder Years, Kevin & Winnie's on again off again romance that spanned six seasons,Kevin's allergic nerdy best friend Paul, homemaker extraordinaire Mom Norma Arnold, unspoken yet sometimes gruff Dad Jack Arnold, flower child hippie girl older sister Karen Arnold, pain in the butt bullish older brother Wayne Arnold as well as the happenings of the tumultuous 60's then this podcast is for you.

This is a biweekly podcast where I give you a double episode review  of my favorite episodes of each season, with segments like  Best Threads, Worst Person of the Episode on a scale of give em' a wedgie (the lowest) to "The BOOSH toilet swirlie (the highest) for the guys and bra snap (the lowest) to insult their cooking(the highest) for the ladies, Best Song of the Episode and my own Flower Power Episode Rating.

Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast Introduction Episode

Good Evening, I hope you’re having a good weekend even though it’s mostly over. Well Punky Peeps, welcome to another episode of Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Power Podcast. I’m your host Angela Bowen and today I will be reviewing Punky Brewster’s Season 1 Episode 8 Part 2 entitled Go to Sleep which aired on November 4, 1984 and is the last of the 12 minute mini episodes.

I do have some very exciting news Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast is getting a little brother podcast in Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. In this podcast I’ll be picking a handful of my favorite episodes from each season and talking about them. It’ll be a best of podcast. It will also be a bi-weekly podcast where I review two episodes every two weeks. The introduction episode is on soundcloud on it’s own page but I can upload it on the punky power podcast on Itunes for you guys to hear. I haven’t yet submitted it to itunes yet. But it will soon be ready in a few weeks or less.

In this episode we find Punky doing anything she can to avoid the dreaded bedtime everything from a bedtime story to counting sheep, she even eventually convinces Henry to let her stay up late and watch his beloved opera program, will this young girl ever settle down for the night or will Henry become the victim of sleep deprivation, listen to find out!

Punky Brewster: S1E8 Part 2 Go To Sleep

Welcome to another episode of Punky Power, Punky Peeps I'm your host Angela Bowen and today I'll be reviewing Season 1 Episode 10 Dog Dough Afternoon which aired on December 2, 1984.

After overhearing Henry's conversation to Mrs. Johnson about how expensive it is to raise a child these days.  Punky and her friends come up with a plan to make some dough by starting a dog grooming business suggested by Mr. Green Vice President of Midvale Bank and Trust when Punky visits him asking for an $80,000 loan to help raise herself until the age of 18. Hilarity and chaos ensues as Punky and her friends bite off more than they can chew when  becoming lucrative business entrepreneurs.

Will Punky be able keep her business endeavor on the down low in time to raise the much needed $80,000  or will her plan go up in soap suds ?

Punky Brewster: S1E10 Dog Dough Afternoon

Hey Punky Peeps,

Join me as I discuss Season 1 Episode 11 Bye, Bye My which aired on December 9, 1984. After many failed attempts at fixing her doll My, Henry decides to get Punky a new doll after deeming My unfixable and tosses her down the garbage shoot not realizing the sentimental value she holds over Punky.

Punky Brewster: S1E11 Bye Bye My

Here it is Punky Peeps, just like I promised the Punky Power Bonus Episode.

The episode I chose is Season 2 Episode 10 Bright Eyes and it aired on November 11, 1986 just before the end of the show’s run.

This episode Bright Eyes focuses on a deaf boy named Danny who Punky and her friends meet while playing in the park. While there they meet a stray dog who takes an immediate liking to Danny. Danny actually lives in the same apartment building at Punky and Cherie, and he decides to bring the dog who he has now named Bright Eyes home to meet his Mom. However when she meets the dog she deems him as being too much work and trouble for Danny to handle and tells him to take the dog away.
What will Danny do, will he defy his mother’s wishes and try to hide Bright Eyes or while he realize the dog is too much for him and find him a new home?

Punky Brewster Cartoon: S2E10 Bright Eyes

Welcome to another episode Punky Peeps. I'll be reviewing Season 1 Episode 14 Punky in the Record Business or also referred to as Play It Again, Punky which aired on January 20, 1985.

In this episode we see that Punky’s disinterest in learning the piano causes Henry to bring in a professional a younger man named Tony Glen played by second guest appearance by musician Andy Gibb who happens to appeal to Punky’s tastes of music like Cyndi Lauper, Rick Springfield and Michael Jackson along with his creative ways of breaking down the steps of playing piano by naming the piano keys making them easier to identify.

When Tony plays a song he wrote for Punky, she tells him she can help him get his music out into the world for the public to hear and make him a star. Which brings them to Dell Star Records run by Lonnie Dell, that's right, thee Lonnie Dell who has more gold records on his wall then he does clients. Will Punky and Tony get roped in or will Henry be able to save the day in the nick of time. Listen to find out.

Punky Brewster: S1E14 Punky in the Record Business

Hey there Punky Peeps,

This time around I’ll be discussing two serious episodes the first one is S2E8: Just Say No which aired on October 27, 1985 and this is the episode that dealt with Punky and Cherie being offered drugs by a group of 5th grade girls who call themselves the Chiclets, yes just like the candy.

Time for my Brandon Tail Wag Episode Rating:

I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags

1.	 For approaching the subject of the temptation of drug use in a way that wasn’t too scary for young kids but gave a positive message.

2.	 For showing Punky and Cherie so eager to join an older girls group that they began to mimic their dress and slang and how easily the older girls had influence over Punky and Cherie and showing Punky and Cherie trying hard to resist the urge to try drugs.

3.	 For Henry and Betty vetoing the idea of Punky and Cherie hanging out with 6th graders being they’re 9 years old. This was before Chiclets were revealed to be drug users.

4.	For Mike being the kind of teacher that Punky could turn to in a tough situation especially when she was afraid to come to Henry on the matter of being tempted to take drugs. Mike was open and honest with her and explaining peer pressure to her and giving her the Just Say No booklet.

5.	For the end montage showing Henry and Betty getting involved with the kids for the Just Say No Campaign. I really wish we could have seen Punky and Cherie tell Henry and Betty about the whole drug temptation, sure they’d get mad, but at least they’d be made aware of what’s going on.

In S2E9: The Search which aired on November 10, 1985. In this episode Punky has something in common with her teacher, Mike Fulton: they were both abandoned by their mothers. They work together to try and find the whereabouts of their respective families.

I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags.

1.	For the set up of the episode a classroom assignment of the family tree leading to Punky and Mike searching for their Moms.

2.	For showing the Henry and Punky going through all the records searching for information and leading Punky to admit to Henry how much she misses her Mom, but at least one good thing came out of the search finding Mike’s Mom.

3.	Punky taking it upon herself to go to Mike’s mom and convince her to see her son. She brings up her missing mom and how she would give anything to have one moment with her and she’d make that moment last forever.

4.	Mike and his mom Lois meeting face to face and how sad and joyous it is all at the same time. They both learn some hard truths about each other.

5.	Punky giving us an update on Mike meeting his new family and hoping one day she and her mom can be reunited, but also thanks God for Henry coming into her life.

Join me next Sunday on October 22 when I discuss S2E11: The Gift which aired on  November 24, 1985 in this episode Punky befriends the school janitor who, in spite of her learning disability, is a gifted violin player.

And in S2E12: Milk Does A Body Good which aired on December 1, 1985. In this episode Punky and Cherie learn that a girl who moved into the building recently was kidnapped by her divorced father, and they are both living in the building under assumed names.

Punky Brewster: S2E8: Just Say No and S2E9: The Search

Hey there Punky Peeps,

I’m your host Angela Bowen and welcome to another episode of Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Power Podcast.

Today I’ll be discussing two more serious episodes from Season 2 S2E11: The Gift
Punky befriends the school janitor who, in spite of her learning disability, is a gifted violin player. Which aired on November 24, 1985 and S2E12: Milk Does A Body Good 
Punky and Cherie learn that a girl who moved into the building recently was kidnapped by her divorced father, and they are both living in the building under assumed names. Which aired on December 1, 1985. This episode shows a young Candace Cameron from Full House.

I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags.

1.	Props given to Bonnie Urseth the actress who played Linda. She did a fabulous job portraying a mentally handicapped adult.

2.	For Punky for showing kindness to Linda and being her friend.

3.	For Henry who taught Punky to like Linda for who she is and not because she feels sorry for her.

4.	For Mike for stomping out Allen’s rude comment to Linda and making him understand what he did was wrong and for giving him the 3 page paper assignment on the Special Olympics and making him read it in front of the class. He made an example out of Allen. You don’t treat people like that.

5.	For Mike helping Linda share her gift when he realizes her musical talent. He treats her with respect and doesn’t talk down to her.


I’m giving this episode 4 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags:

1.	The show dealing with the subject of a missing child in a serious manner.

2.	Candace Cameron acts the heck out of this episode. She can seem cute and innocent but when she discovers her father’s been lying to her, she turns on a dime and demands to know the truth.

3.	Henry and Betty taking this matter to heart when they discover the milk carton with Julie/Jennifer’s face on it. Henry immediately goes on the offense after Mr. Whitney explains why he took his daughter.  He tells him that what he did was out of selfishness not love.

4.	Punky and Cherie being so welcoming in befriending Julie. And how they wanted to help her when her situation became dire after she discovered her face on the milk carton.

I had to knock a tail wag off because honestly Betty should have been watching those girls making that cake, so that way she could step in and make a correction and she could have seen the milk carton sooner and decided the best way to break it to Julie instead of the girls looking at Julie suspiciously and then shoving it in her face like hey, this is you right, why is your picture on here?

Join me on Sunday October 29 when I review S2E14: Urban Fear which is the first episode to air in the New Year on January 5, 1986. In this episode Punky is afraid that Henry will be the next victim of a widely publicized murder spree. This is kind of a dark episode. But the next episode S2E15: Girls Wanna Be Boys makes up for it by being a fun episode when Punky receives a remote-controlled race car as a gift. She wants to take it to the racing track, but they do not allow girls to compete there.

Wow and it’s a bit sexiest too.

Punky Brewster: S2E11: The Gift And S2E12: Milk Does A Body Good

Happy Sunday Ricker Fans,

Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast.

Ricky meets his Grandfather and uses the old guilt trip on him to reconcile the estranged father and son by mentioning how he didn’t have a father in his life for 12 years (his whole life) and how his grandfather’s absence in Edward’s life is just like him not having a father either. Smooth, real smooth Ricky. But, hey, it works!

Ricky even uses his boyish charm and puppy dog eyes to weasel his grandfather's address out of Kate who at first doesn't want to get involved because 1.)It's a family issue (She and Edward aren't' married yet)and 2.)She doesn't want to get fired for getting involved in the dispute between Edward and his father by giving Ricky the address. But Ricky gets her all buttered up by asking about her Grandpa and what she called him and what was he like.

Oh, Ricky! Kate could probably resist this if you weren't so gosh darn adorable.

In S1E3: Grandfather Stratton,
which aired on October 9, 1982.

In this episode Ricky wants to meet his grandfather, but finds that Edward has no interest in seeing his father - an attitude that is definitely mutual. Knowing how important it was for him to know his father, Ricky devises a plan to reconcile the two.

Also in this episode I talk about my favorite memory of my Grandpa.

Things get tough for Ricky in S1E4: Me and Mr. T, which aired on October 16, 1982, when his first week of public school ends up with him getting a black eye for the school bully, so Edward takes it upon himself to hire a bodyguard for his protection.

After I cover the show I talk about the latest book I read Courage by Barbara Binns. I really enjoyed this book as it opened my eyes to this young man's struggle to grow up in a world this seems determined to keep him down.

A timely middle grade debut perfect for fans of Ghost and Booked -- A story of race, class, and the strength of brotherly love.

T'Shawn has worked hard to get his family's life back on track after his father died. But as things are returning to normal, his world is suddenly turned upside down when his older brother, Lamont, returns from prison. T puts his frustrations into his diving practice -- especially when he gets a scholarship to join a prestigious diving team at the local private swim club. But when crimes start increasing in the neighborhood and Lamont is the prime suspect, T'Shawn begins to question the hope that he and Lamont can put the broken pieces of their damaged relationship back together.

Silver Spoons: S1E3: Grandfather Stratton

Hey Everyone,

Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast.

Today I covered S3E23: The Secret Life Of Ricky Stratton, which aired on March 24, 1985.

In this episode Rick feels bad about himself when he sees how gorgeous his computer date is.

This episode deals with body image and how we see ourselves as well as how we think other people see us.

The term Grocking as gross as it sounds(to me)simply refers to chatting on the computer with people we've never met in person, pre - internet and World Wide Web days.

Long before the days of parents telling their kids to be safe talking to people they chat with online, Edward and Kate tell Rick to go for it and go meet this Wanda girl on a blind date. 

Luckily for Rick she lives in the same state not somewhere clear across the country like Montana or Utah. She sends him her picture ,which I first thought was fake and cut out of a magazine.

I really thought this was going to be a catfish scenario where she sends a picture that isn't her and he meets her and it's someone else. I mean where are Nev and Matt.

Turns out it's a lot less complicated.

Rick feeling insecure after seeing Wanda's picture tries to improve his looks by taping his ears down (he's really fixated on his ears) then he sees to his horror he has a pimple on his forehead (seriously, you can barely tells it's even there)he slaps some Clearasil on it.

We get a weird and creepy nightmare of Rick meeting Wanda at the hamburger joint where he's dressed in plaid and has big fake ears and a huge red dot on his forehead symbolizing a zit (in today's world, it would be considered culturally insensitive, it's a giant red dot between his eyebrows.

Kate plays the waitress who insults Rick's looks multiple times, but that's not the creepy part, Edward plays Chip Wanda's high school senior boyfriend. It's goofy and creepy at the same time. 

Then when Rick goes to meet up with her Wanda who informed by her friend Sally that Rick is very popular at Fuller High and a major babe .

Wanda has her own nightmare or I guess day-mare since it's the middle of the afternoon and imagines herself as morbidly obese with a giant nose with Rick being uber popular and all the girls in the hamburger joint hanging off him,

In reality it's adorable how awkward they are with each other, the typical we chat online all the time but when we meet in person we have nothing to say or can't find the words.

I really didn't like Alfonso referring to Wanda as possibly being a dog as he makes wolf howls (before seeing her picture), Kate sets the boys and Edward straight on appreciating a girl for their mind and not their looks and body.
