"Transcendental Love" is the fifth EP in two years by Hackney-based producer Fabien Guiot, who is assembling a catalogue of hypnotic, understated tracks that are subtly colorful in their production. The music on "Transcendental Love" illustrates a rising energy born out of dark confines, reflecting our patient return to clubs and nightlife all over the world, and furthermore proving London's fertile ground for the LoFi house scene. Its sounds are both industrial and delicate, aiming to return to the roots of house music in tastefully low fidelity.

Side A features two anthemic tracks in classic breakbeat and four-on-the-floor structures, guaranteed to raise heat on the dance floor and start nights on the good foot. “Freedom” is a declaration of prevailing over the past two years of shutdowns and arrives at a crucial point where festivals and clubs are going through a day-to-day gauntlet leading up to the hour of their events. The title track “Transcendental Love” reminisces on pre-pandemic bliss, evoking classic 90’s house with its soaring hook and syncopated bass line, conducting a deep and infectious rhythm from start to finish.

The music on Side B is more introspective but equally important to understanding the EP’s message. “This Time It Feels Right” deconstructs the basics of acid house to reach contemplative heights, creating a melody and breaking it down to emulate itself. The EP’s energy shifts in “Daydreaming” where an ominous hook, bouncing pads and conga-lined drum kit are playfully arranged to build the song’s driving force. The concluding track “Verge” is made of rapid breaks and angelic synths, signaling a departure from these trying times and welcoming a more heavenly reality.

SlothBoogie Records welcomes Deep House maestro DJ Aakmael onto its roster this March with ‘The Hardbody Project’ EP, comprised of four original compositions from the Richmond, US-based artist.

Across the past decade and a half DJ Aakmael has unveiled an impressive back catalogue of soul-drenched, dynamic deep house via revered imprints such as Uzuri, Church, Scissor & Thread, Freerange and Second Hand Records amongst many more. Here we see his latest material perfectly interlace with SlothBoogie Records own impressive back catalogue of bumping house and raw deep cuts.

Leading the release is ‘Hardbody’, laid out across seven minutes with chopped brass samples, bright key sequences, modulating Moogesque resonant leads and shuffled drums before ‘Track 166’ shifts focus over to a deeper aesthetic via dubbed out chord swells, organic percussion and twinkling piano melodies.

The aptly named ‘Deepshyt’ opens the flip side, as the name would suggest employing an amalgamation of deep and entrancing synth work, crisp drums and spoken word vocal chants. ‘Strobe’ then rounds out the release with a more disco-tinged House feel, fusing together funk guitar licks, cinematic strings and a snaking bass groove atop Aakmael’s signature swinging rhythmic feel.

Fragments of Reality continue to suck you through wormholes into the multiverse with the second selection of exclusive V/A tracks produced for the fledgling imprint.

FOR02 opens with a brand new collaboration between Subb-an (ONE records) and Luther Vine (Phonica) with a track called ‘Expression’ - an ominous, swirling, floor filling monster that combines relentless rhythms, otherworldly vocals and futuristic synths into a high quality production. It’s closely followed by ‘Animal Anthem’ from acid breaks maestro Rudolf C that features his trademark multidimensional layers of sounds wrapped up in a contemplative mood and finished with intense production skills.

The flip side opens with ‘Pyramid’ a fresh new sound from a mysterious duo, Voodoos and Taboos. Following a string of high calibre releases on Phonica AM and their own label the duo continue to make their mark as masters of cinematic sound design with this tripped out mind melter! FOR02 is beautifully balanced with ‘Enchanted’ from Berlin based duo ERIS, known amongst other things for their releases on Tokyo based label, Cabaret.  Once again Fragments of Reality deliver four unique excursions into different dimensions and soundscapes...

This EP produced some time ago and whose release was delayed due to the pandemic, is a project for which he feels a certain nostalgia because it is not just the result of a simple artist / label collaboration but of a friendship.

"With the ‘70024 Beats Roots Vol.1’, Ruff Stuff welcomes onto the various artist package his ex Ruff Stuff production partner, now producing under the name of Flaze, Bress Underground and Toysin who debuts this moniker but is also known for his Techno material under the guise Earwax.

Flaze’s ‘Resolve’ leads the release and lays down an amalgamation of hazy chords, bumpy bass stabs, wandering strings and stuttering vocal chops atop a swinging drum groove. Bress Underground’s ‘I Bet You’re Wond’rin’ follows next and retains a similarly deep aesthetic, fusing ethereal pads, gritty bass stabs and bright piano sequences with crunchy shuffled drums and cut up vocal lines.

Label boss Ruff Stuff opens the flip-side next with ‘Gut Feel’, bringing a more vintage tinge to things via organ hits, cinematic strings, circling fm synth lines and squelchy acid licks. Neu Fahrland was born in the year 2019. The basic idea behind Neu Fahrland was finally to made a album after some years of making music and to go new paths. As the name already says. Neu Fahrland is a place in Brandenburg where I was in rehab. A few months after my mother passed away. In this time I produced some tracks and thought I have an album together. After several listens I realized that it will not be my debut album. The tracks wasn't good enough and also my mixdown. So some time passed and in 2020/2021 I sat down again to produce. About the time when my label was born. I first thought it would be a digital release but then i decided to go for a cassette release even new paths. Its my first own physical release.
The photo of me is from my childhood days at my grandmas home.
I hope you dig my Album as i do.

After getting glimpses of Denyl Brook’s production prowess in recent collaborations with the likes of Shall Not Fade family members THEOS and Romeo Louisa, we welcome him to the groove-focused, dancefloor-oriented Killer Cuts series to which he delivers 6 feel-good house bangers in his signature funk-infused style.
 
If groove is the word, then Denyl Brook is your man. An incredibly prolific producer, in the space of his relatively short career the Marseille-born Silver Steps Records boss has been responsible for an impressive output, released via his own imprint as well as labels such as Basement Discos and House Cookin’ Records. 
 
Leaping Tenacity EP into action is the sunshine-dipped, serotonin-saturated ‘Baby It’s You’ which comes complete with a skippy house beat and syrup-smooth vocal licks before ‘Take Me Higher’ takes things deeper, cool oozing from its funk-infused bassline. ‘His Name’ takes us right back to the dance floor, where we will remain firmly-footed for the next two up. Arpeggiating synth tickles and luscious pads illuminate the aptly-titled ‘Bliss’ before ‘Hear Me’ awakens us from our reverie with a hard-hitting pulse and low-frequency acid melody. Finally, ‘My Friend Barry’ sees the EP at its most stripped-back - deep house in its purest form: meditative yet steeped in sex appeal.
