’S.L.F.’ sees exogenous pop alchemist Aïsha Devi expand on the experiments into metaphysics and rave music found in her acclaimed 2018 album ‘DNA Feelings’. Defining a contemporary ritual practice through binaural, healing frequencies and club impact, she coalesces the sacred and the virtual, the subliminal and the cognitive in a syncretic vision.

Aïsha Devi crystalizes her approach in a mesh of trap, trance and computer music woven with sonic references in flux between metal sub-terrain and ambient dimensions.

This year marks 3 years of Needs.

Since humble beginnings in 2017, the label has gone on to release tracks from some of our favourite artists in the scene, as well curating events with essential charities and initiatives such as UN Women's HeForShe campaign, and also Earth Day.

To mark this special occasion we’re back where it all started, raising money and awareness for mental health. October 10th marks World Mental Health Day and this year's theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health is suicide prevention. To recognise and promote this occasion we’ve brought along another all-star cast to help us spread the message far and wide.

Needs 008 is a double vinyl compilation which features the talents of ​Shanti Celeste​, ​OCB​, ​Michelle​, ​Bobby.​, Peder Mannerfelt​, ​Yu Su​, ​Adam Pits​ and ​DJ Sports​.

Premiere: Acostumbrado a los ritmos tribales e hipnóticos, el hechicero marroquí Prophän se adentra ahora en nuevos territorios con "Blood, Fear & Injustice".

En esta creación, patadas ruidosas, voces distorsionadas, sintetizadores ondulados y bajos doom allanan el camino para formar un conjunto ecléctico pero coherente.

Producida en un entorno que oprime a las minorías que no se ajustan a los estándares establecidos, «Blood, Fear & Injustice» es tanto una obra de arte como un acto militante. De ahí los diferentes títulos que todos se refieren al control del pueblo por parte de la clase dominante política y religiosa.

Para concluir este EP, pensamos que no había mejor manera que traer a la cartelera al activista del sonido griego ANFS. El director de Vanila Records nos ofrece su propia visión de «Silent And Under The Boot» de Prophän y podemos decir que el resultado es una auténtica demostración de fuerza, con su ritmo que sigue haciéndose más pesado a lo largo y su tensión palpable.

Premiere: Accustomed to tribal and hypnotic rhythms, the Moroccan sorcerer Prophän is now venturing into new territories with "Blood, Fear & Injustice". 

In this creation, noisy kicks, distorded vocals, wavy synths and doom basses pave the way to form an eclectic but coherent ensemble. 

Produced in an environment which oppresses minorities who do not conform to the established standards, « Blood, Fear & Injustice » is as much a work of art as a militant act. Hence the different titles which all refers to the control of the people by the political and religious ruling class. 

To conclude this EP, we thought that there was no better way than bringing the greek sound activist ANFS to the bill! The head of Vanila Records offers us his own vision of Prophän’s « Silent And Under The Boot » and we can say that the result is a real show of force, with its rhythm that continues to grow heavier all along and its palpable tension.

The 3rd EP is entitled "Timoshenko" and includes a Kuf remix of the aforementioned titled track. 

"Timoshenko" reflects a more personal affiliation to Vladw's roots and the corresponding tracks are effervescent with detail and maturity in execution. The drum programming is meticulous sense and their acoustic signatures are clean and dense. The claps and hi-hats are arranged perfectly to deliver optimum rhythm and seamless for DJ's in the mix. The cosmic bleeps and pulsating crisp drums of "Timoshenko" transport the mind into a vortex of deep hypnosis.
The assortment of sequenced bleeps, phased hypnotic sounds, and ambient pitch-bending notes in "Beria" are calibrated with precision. 
The retro hi-hat/kick-drum machine funk intro of the re-working of "Timoshenko" by Kuf is a distinctive and contrasting mesh on Vladw's interstellar original. Distorted off-beat rifts are swiftly added to the equation to create a tribal old-school minimalistic track. 
The pinnacle of the EP rests with the magical "Yezhov" that combines velocity and spirituality. Deep ritualistic and textured sounds are complemented by flowing and perfectly sequenced drums.

In conclusion, a project underpinned by historic impulses but brought to life by a vivid imagination and a clinic in drum programming and arrangement.
