Big Twins delivers one of his most emotionally gripping tracks to date with “Memories,” a heartfelt ode to lost family members, featuring Havoc, with stunning production supplied by Knxwledge.

Knx’s instrumental sets the tone for the track with layers of angelic samples paired beautifully with hard-hitting percussion. It’s Boom bap with a truly soulful tinge, and Big Twins’s raspy vocals complement the beat perfectly. He pays homage to the passing of his fraternal twin, Twin Scarface with thoughtful, gripping rhymes about losing his best friend and finally gaining the strength to live on.

Fellow Queensbridge heavyweight Havoc shares a similar story in his bars as he, too, sadly lost his own brother, Killa Black. Like Big Twins, Hav raps about pulling through the pain and continuing on with his life in spite of it all, and it’s hard not to get choked up when he refers to his late Mobb Deep partner, Prodigy, who passed away in June 2017: “I know you there with P and you just lightin’ up/ Up there in the heavens with your eye on us.” 

“Memories” is the second single taken from Twin’s upcoming 'Grimey Life' LP, which is available NOW through the emcee’s own imprint, Drumset Music Works via EMPIRE. In addition to Havoc, the 15 track LP includes guest features from the late Prodigy, Ras Kass, Planet Asia, along with Twins’ Infamous Mobb cohorts Godfather Pt. 3 and Ty Nitty, among others, and boasts production from The Alchemist, Twiz the Beat Pro, Beatnick Dee, DJ Wool, and of course Knxwledge, among others. CD and vinyl will be available as well in limited quantities.

“I've taken you up to “The Attic”, showed you around and introduced you to a few of the homies. Now I’m going to take you through The Basement, it gets real spooky down here." Inland Empire/Los Angeles emcee, Trizz is readying the follow up to his 2018 album “The Attic”. To be released via Below System Records on March 15th, “The Basement” is another tour through the same little house of horrors.

Claustrophobic trap drums, skittery synth tones and snatches of horns, strings and vocal samples are the backdrop for Trizz’s “been there, done that” vocal tone. Autobiographical tales of love gone wrong, romances with illicit substances and street life operas are swept up in a dark hallucinogenic haze of gore and seen through a cold and distorted glass bottle full of lean.

Speaking on his musical themes, the emcee revealed “I believe in the afterlife, hell and heaven, demons and angels. The horror in my music comes from a real place including things I’ve seen as well as nightmares and visions I have had.” Long haunted by those visions, Trizz began self-releasing projects in his teens (including his early and equally grim break-through release, “Case 17”). “The Basement” marks his 9th solo project.

Joining him on this latest entry of tales from the hood are co-hosts Rittz (formerly of Strange Music), T.F, Roc$tedy, Xavier and Audio Push. Some of his past work includes collaborations with G Perico, Rob $tone, Bizarre (D12) and Brotha Lynch Hung.

Production on “The Basement” are done by Stone’s Neighbor, Oh Gosh Leotus, SexCurryBeats, C. Ray, Audio King, DJ Rybe and Beatnick Dee.

In addition to his voluminous solo work, Trizz has released several weed-centric EP’s and albums with Sacramento emcee Chuuwee (including “AmeriKKa’s Most Blunted” 1, 2 and 3, the “Two Puff Pass” EP and “The Smoke Out” EP) with a bulk of the production handled by AC3Beats. The duo have completed numerous tours together.

Following up the rich, soulful Jewelry Rap and the gritty, mafioso Alkaline Water, Jah-Monte’s third record of the year God Body & Soul (I Mastered Self II) is a piece composed by a litany of producers (including recent collaborators like Killer Kane and Krow) and of course Jah-Monte’s dense, storytelling raps. This diverse sound remains unified by general themes: echoing piano chords, tough yet playful drums and sombre jazzy moments. Jah-Monte’s verses are like pure gold dust, sweeping over each beat and leaving nothing but lyrical magic in his wake. With a concise track list, elite performances on each and every song, and most vitally an incredible ear for atmosphere, this is yet another stunning addition to the best rapper in Charlotte’s catalogue. Paying homage to the greats while also demanding his respect, the MC once again refused to take his foot off the game’s neck with this one.

Phife and I worked on “No Place Like Home” in the same time frame as the beginning stages of the last Tribe LP. Even though he was living in The Bay during the last years of his life, we kept in touch frequently and I even brought my son, Caiden to meet him in person while he was in New York which lead to both of us making a cameo appearance in his last solo video.
A couple months later unfortunately he passed away and Q Tip asked me to re-join Tribe to help make sure the last LP represented us and Phife’s legacy to the fullest. Once we released “We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service” I always knew I wanted people to hear this record but it just felt like the timing had to be right. This year it feels right... The one thing I know about Phife is that he’s a rapper’s rapper. The best gift I could give him for his birthday this year is to let the world hear the “5 Foot Assassin” 1nce Again!
