Worship should be within every aspect of our daily routine. We can begin to worship God through our working and resting when we recognize that we can worship Him in all things.

Thanking Throught It Pt. 1

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus compares two types of people: The wise and the foolish builder. In His parable, everything seems to be equal except one thing: only one of the men HEARD and OBEYED the words of Jesus. Jesus calls us to be hearers and doers of His words. We have come to believe the lie that we are supposed to build our lives around the teachings of Jesus, not on them, but Jesus calls us to something different.

We have been called by Jesus to make disciples of the nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To baptize necessitates the work of evangelism. Jesus shows us in Matthew 13 (1-9, 18-23) that our job is to sow seeds (the Gospel), not pick the soil. He also shows us that the sower is not responsible for the outcome of the sowing. Their job is to sow. We have been called to share the Good News of Jesus with everyone we have the opportunity to. That is faithfulness to the Gospel.

When we look at the ministry of Jesus through Matthew's eyes, He made the case that Jesus preached, taught, and healed. We are typically good with the first two, but that last one can make some of us uncomfortable. Despite our comfort level. Jesus confronts us by saying that He is the "great physician." In John 5 (1-14), Jesus meets a paralyzed man and asks him a confusing question: "Do you want to be healed?" That question should ring in our ears today. And what we can learn from Scripture is that if we want to be healed, we are to come together to pray (James 5:13-16). Do you want to be healed?

As Jesus begins His ministry in the Gospel of Mark, He proclaims a simple and profound message: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:14-15 ESV). In this simple declaration, Jesus lays out for us HIS way of discipleship. A way that includes repentance and belief. A journey of relationship, transformation, and mission.

Several times in the New Testament we see Jesus "moved by compassion". Every time that Jesus is moved by compassion a miracle takes place. It is safe to say the compassion precedes the miraculous. Our world is in need of a miracle. Let's take a look at what it means to be moved by compassion.

"Lord, teach us to pray!" That was the question on the disciple's heart. In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus does just that. In doing so, He gives them 6 priorities in prayer. And it starts with who. It starts with acknowledging who we are talking to. And when we start there, we learn a couple of things: (1) We learn that prayer isn't a transaction. It's a relationship. (2) Prayer isn't a transaction - it's a transformation.

The Character of God

"Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in Earth as it is in Heaven." Jesus isn't teaching us to repeat words, He's giving us a model to reorder our hearts. This line is the prayer is about surrendering our agendas and inviting God's reign into every realm, starting with us. 

The Kingdom of God

"Give us this day our daily bread" This part of the prayer is about divine alignment. This is a bold declaration of our daily dependence on God as our Source. Jesus is the Bread of Life. Is He enough? Provide isn't just what He does, Provider is who He is!

The Provision of God

God is not the source of temptation, but He is the guide through it and the deliverer from it. This part of the prayer is a cry for divine guidance and a confession of our own spiritual vulnerability.

God's Guidance

"Deliver us from evil!" Whether we realize it or not, we are in a battle. A battle with an enemy that operates in places we aren't always of. And the good news is that Jesus knew that we would need help. We sometimes believe God is annoyed by our cries for help, but He's not. He's honored by it. Why? Because our pleas are a declaration of faith. This prayer isn't about fear - it's about trusting God and that He is greater!

- We are in a battle, whether we realize it or not

- Jesus knew we would need rescue

- "But deliver" is a desperate plea

- God is not annoyed by your cry for help. He’s honored by it.

- Prayer for protection isn't just personal, it's communal

- There is real darkness in the world

- Name your danger
- Ask boldly and pray daily
- Suit up (Ephesians 6)

- This prayer isn't about fear - it's about living in faith

Overview:
Pride is more than arrogance—it’s a quiet lie that tells us we can live without God. It masks itself as strength, intelligence, even humility. In this message, we expose pride’s subtle power, identify its root lies, and walk through the spiritual process to break free. You can’t defeat what you’re afraid to name. But when you bind pride and embrace humility, real freedom begins.

Main Points:
1. Identify the Lie – Pride is Quiet, But Deadly
• Hides behind competence, independence, even humility.
• Lucifer’s fall (Isaiah 14) shows pride often sounds like “I will…”
• Lies: “I got this.” “I don’t need help.”
• Truth: “My strength is in Christ.” (2 Cor 12:9, James 4:6)

2. Bind It with Humility
• Pride can’t live where submission reigns.
• Binding pride means confessing and surrendering.
• Declare: “I release control—I trust You, God.”

3. Speak Identity – Beauty in Humility
• You’re not self-made—you’re grace-framed.
• Identity: “He holds me together.” “His grace covers my weakness.”
• (Col. 1:17, John 8:36)

Take away:
Trade pride for presence.

Pride


Addiction. We tend to think of drugs, alcohol, gambling, or even food, but addiction is so much more than that. Addiction is repeatedly surrendering to something you believe you need more than you need God. And we do that more than we would like to admit. But when something has more control over you than your faith does, it’s not just a problem—it’s an idol. The good news is that freedom begins the moment you stop fighting for victory—and start fighting from it.

Addiction

This message explores how fear and anxiety operate as spiritual strongholds, not just emotions. Anchored in 1 Samuel 17, we follow David’s encounter with Goliath to see how identity, not intimidation, brings victory. Fear lies, distorts, paralyzes, and drains—but faith ROARS back. This isn’t about hyping courage—it’s about reclaiming identity, waging spiritual warfare, and stepping into trust.
You’re not just called to survive your valley—you’re equipped to roar in it.

Fear and Anxiety

As our journey through strongholds come to an end, we hope you see how they are interwoven together to create a fabric of lies that hold us in bondage. We end with the stronghold of control. While control feels like freedom it is not. It's simply pressure. Pressure to take God's place to often do more than we are capable of doing. But freedom is found in surrender. And the greatest way we can practice surrender is by practicing sabbath rest. Rest isn't a luxury, it was a gift - a lifeline from God. You CAN rest, because GOD never stops working!

Control

In Matthew 4:18-20, Jesus’ calls His first disciples (and to us) to be "fishers of men." Just as fishermen use different bait for different fish, we’re reminded that people are reached in different ways: through words, actions, and the example of our lives. Sharing our faith isn’t about having the perfect script, it’s about following Jesus and being intentional in how we love, serve, and speak. As believers, we need to see ourselves as everyday missionaries, uniquely equipped to reach the people around us. When we follow Jesus, He makes us into people who help others find Him.

Gone Fishing

Worship isn’t defined by a sound—it’s revealed in surrender. In the very first mention of worship in Scripture (Genesis 22), Abraham wasn’t singing—he was sacrificing. Worship begins with obedience, is expressed through costly sacrifice, and flows from a surrendered heart. This week unpacks how true worship isn’t about offering what we think is best, but giving God what He asked for—even when it costs us everything.

The Foundation of Worship

	•	Worship requires an altar; altars represent surrendered hearts.
	•	The process of building an altar: intentionality and sacrifice.
	•	No sacrifice, no fire; fire signifies God’s presence.
	•	Application: Evaluate the altar of your heart. What needs rebuilding?

Worship is Devotion

Scripture: Daniel 1

Main Idea
Babylon tried to rename their identity, retrain their devotion, and reshape their appetites.
But Daniel and his friends showed us: devotion determines diet.

It wasn't a coincidence that they were from the tribe of Judah = “Praise.”

Why Judah Matters
Babylon tried to capture Judah because praise belongs to God.
To conquer a people was to say: “Our god is greater than your God.”
But their devotion proved otherwise.

The Name Change (Identity Shift)
Daniel = “God is my Judge” → Belteshazzar = “Bel protect his life.”
Hananiah = “The Lord is gracious” → Shadrach = “Command of Aku (moon god).”
Mishael = “Who is like God?” → Meshach = “Who is like Aku?”
Azariah = “The Lord has helped” → Abednego = “Servant of Nebo.”
This wasn't just a name change it was an attempt to shift their devotion. 

The Language & Literature (Worldview Shift)
New language = “Think and speak like us.”
Goal = Indoctrinate them into a new worldview.
But their thoughts never changed because their devotion was anchored in Yahweh.

The King’s Food (Appetite Shift)
They didn’t fight the name change, but they resisted at the table.
“We will not defile ourselves with the king’s food.” (Daniel 1:8)
Why? Because what you consume shapes your devotion.
True worship isn’t sustained by Babylon’s table, it’s satisfied at God’s table.

Key Application
Devotion determines diet.
What we consume(media, voices, comfort, convenience) reveals where our devotion lies.
Question isn’t just "What’s on your plate?"
It’s "Who set your table?"

Reflection Questions
What “tables” has culture invited me to eat from?
Where do I see my devotion shaping my appetite?
Am I more drawn to Babylon’s table (comfort, convenience) or God’s table (obedience, compassion)?

Heart of Worship – Week 4
Worship Must Be Expressed
Anchor Text: James 2:17 

Worship that stays hidden in the heart is incomplete. True worship demands expression. Just as faith without works is dead, worship without expression loses its power.

Key Scriptures
Joshua 6 — Jericho’s walls fell, not in silence, but with a shout of faith.

2 Samuel 6 — David danced with all his might; Michal’s silence and disdain led to barrenness.

Acts 16:25–26 — Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison; chains broke, doors opened, and salvation came.

Silent Worship Costs:
Barrenness (Michal).

Strongholds that never fall (Jericho without a shout).

Chains that remain unbroken (if Paul & Silas stayed quiet).

Expressed Worship Releases:
Fruitfulness and legacy.

Breakthrough and strongholds falling.

Freedom for you and those around you.

Natural Applications:
Jericho: Don’t just think about God’s promises, declare them aloud
.
David’s Dance: Lay down pride; expressed worship breaks barrenness and opens joy.

Disciples’ Shouts: Declare Jesus’ kingship publicly, not just privately.

Paul & Silas: Worship even in suffering; your song may unlock freedom for others.

Reflection Questions
Have I been keeping my worship silent out of fear, pride, or comfort?

What expression of worship (shout, dance, lifting hands, song) do I need to step into more freely?

Where have I seen breakthrough come through expressed worship in my own life?


Worship Must Be Expressed

The Worship God Seeks 

In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well,  the least likely place, at the least likely time, with the least likely person. He tears down cultural prejudice, religious superiority, and personal shame to reveal the kind of worship the Father truly seeks: Spirit and Truth.

This message reminds us:
Worship isn’t about location, heritage, or preference. It’s about posture.
Transformation doesn’t just happen at conversion, but every time we encounter His presence.
When worshipers live transformed, entire communities can encounter God.

Key Points
He Had to Pass Through Samaria:  Jesus went where others avoided, because worship is for outcasts too.

Jesus Confronts Systems:  His presence tears down barriers of culture, gender, shame, and religious superiority.

Transformation in His Presence:  She came thirsty and ashamed, but left filled and transformed.

Worship in Spirit and Truth:  The Father is seeking worshipers, not worship moments.

The Overflow:  True worship can’t stay private; it spills into others’ lives.

The Worship God Seeks

Worship Fuels the Mission (Isaiah 6:1–8 → Romans 12:1–2, ESV)

This final message in the Heart of Worship series reminds us that worship doesn’t end at the altar. It fuels the mission of God.

Isaiah’s encounter in the temple takes us on a journey:
	•	He saw the Lord seated on the throne, high and lifted up.
	•	He saw himself undone and in need of cleansing.
	•	He saw his culture with new compassion, not superiority.
	•	He was cleansed at the altar and prepared for purpose.
	•	He was sent out with the cry: “Here am I, send me.”

Paul echoes the same call in Romans 12: worship is presenting our lives as living sacrifices. The altar doesn’t just cleanse us, it sends us.

“The goal of worship isn’t a moment before God’s throne. It’s a movement into God’s mission.”

Living As A Christian

In a world full of noise, chaos, and constant striving, God invites us to do something radical: be still. Psalm 46 reminds us that even when life feels like it’s falling apart, God is our refuge, our strength, and our fortress. Verse 10 is God’s command to let go of our frantic attempts to control life and instead trust Him: “Be still, and know that I am God.” When we stop striving, we experience His presence more deeply—and we show the world a peace that only comes from Him.

NOTES:

- When life gets hard and the pressure builds, striving doesn’t bring peace. It just wears us out!

- The more we do, the less peace we feel

- We will experience God not in our doing, but in our stopping

- God’s glory really isn’t in question. The only question is whether we’ll live like it.

Be Still and Know

In the opening message of The Names of God series, we discover the power and meaning behind God’s most personal name: Yahweh. This is the name He revealed to Moses in Exodus 3. When God declares, “I AM WHO I AM,” He’s not describing what He does, but who He is - eternal, unchanging, and completely self-existent.

This message reminds us that God doesn’t depend on anything; everything depends on Him. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the One who was, who is, and who always will be. When we know His name, we can trust His nature. No matter what changes around us, Yahweh remains faithful and present.

YHWH (Yahweh)

In this second week of The Names of God series, we unpack the very first name God reveals in Scripture — Elohim, The Mighty Creator. From the opening words of Genesis, we see that God is not distant or detached; He is the One who brings order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and life out of nothing. Through His Word, He still speaks, shapes, and sustains everything He creates. And through Jesus, the Living Word, Elohim continues His creative work in us — making all things new. This message invites us to encounter God not just as Creator of the universe, but as the One still creating within our hearts today.

Notes:
1. Elohim is The Mighty Creator.
He is the first name revealed in Scripture — the God of strength, authority, and creative power.

2. Elohim brings order out of chaos.
He doesn’t fight darkness; He speaks to it. His Word brings clarity, alignment, and peace.

3. Elohim creates with purpose.
From the movement of galaxies to the rhythm of our heartbeat, creation reveals His wisdom and intention. We were created on purpose for His purpose.

4. Elohim still creates through Christ.
The same Word who made the world now remakes us. Salvation is His first creative act in us, but He continues to shape, restore, and breathe life into every part of who we are.

5. Elohim, Create Again
Whether for salvation, renewal, healing, or empowerment, the invitation is to let the Creator keep creating in you.


Elohim

Genesis 16:1-13 (ESV)
This week in our Names of God series, we’ll look at one of the most personal and hope-filled names of God: El Roi: “The God Who Sees Me.” Through the story of Hagar in Genesis 16, we discover that even in moments of rejection, pain, and feeling invisible, God sees us. He knows our situation, hears our cries, and meets us right where we are. In this message, we see how God’s heart for the unseen is still at work today.
