Something Borrowed

The word Babylon is about the breakdown of society. Beyond Babylon implies getting beyond the breakdown of society. Getting above the noise / babble to see and hear more clearly what is really there.



Obviously a new paradigm is needed. Like taking off one pair of glasses and putting on another. From this new perspective we see things differently, we react differently. Maybe other people will be interested in these ideas too.



As a rock band we are exploring these ideas in our lyrics and summoning up the energy of change. Musically we are a fusion of rock n roll, blues, pop, rock, punk, new wave, etc





Russ - Songwriter / Lead vocals / Lead Guitar

 

Russ is a composer and lyricist. In his songwriting, he draws on a wide range of inspirations including Sci-Fi and Sci-Fact, from the fast and furious to the slow and soulful. He has been performing in both original and covers bands for many years. Self-taught, he learned to play lead guitar early on and began to master the guitar styles of his rock idols: George Harrison, Mick Ronson, Robert Fripp, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Page, etc. Russ has performed on radio sessions and has released vinyl and digital recordings, notably Bamboo Zoo who were part of the 80s Manchester Collective. Russ plays acoustic, electric guitar, ukulele and keyboards.

 

Giles - Songwriter / Rhythm Guitar

 

Giles is the riff master of the band with a stream of nifty catchy hooks and writes songs inspired by current affairs, conspiracy theories and his love of all things rock n roll. He grew up listening to 80’s rock bands like Skid Row, Extreme, AC/DC, Metallica, Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, etc. As well as being influenced by hard rock bands, Giles also finds inspiration from the great traditional blues artists like Albert King, Freddie King and Muddy Waters. Giles plays acoustic and electric guitars.

 

Simon / Drums



Simon has extensive experience playing Drums & percussion, touring throughout Europe and Uk performing & recording at notable festivals and venues He has performed on Uk & European tv / radio & in pop videos from Punk Rock Reggae, Drum n Bass, funk ,pop , ska & Rockerbilly. He was the touring band Drummer for 

The Woodentops ( Rough Trade , Epic , Columbia ), Steranko ( Hollywood Records) 

Mangoseed ( Hakisack records ), As well as the Band he is currently performing with Jah Wobble & Jon Klein (Siouxsie and the Banshees)for a new album release and charity event in 2023 for Cherry Red records





Anthony - Bass Guitar / Backing Vocals 



Anthony is a very experienced and versatile bass player. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and producer who has worked on a range of musical projects covering genres such as dub, funk, rock, electronica, experimental, hip hop, world and jazz.
