Premiere: Steve Parry - Waterfloor [Selador]

For our second release of the decade it’s time for the other half of the label’s illustrious management team to step forward as Steve Parry’s Spion 10 takes the spotlight in our shop window. 

After the success of last year’s ‘Don’t Your Ever Stop’ on John Digweed’s Bedrock and his collaboration with Luke Brancaccio, ‘Control Machine’ being voted amongst Beatport’s Best Melodic House & Techno tracks of 2019, Steve’s reputation as a producer has certainly flourished and 2020 promises to see his status soar further. 

Spion 10 is a futurist affair that will quicken pulses and melt minds in equal measure. An electronic adventure of seismic proportions. Not for the faint hearted. 

Its bedfellow on this release comes in the shape of a brand new mix of Steve’s ‘Waterfloor’ track that originally appeared on our last Showcase compilation. Re-rub duties fall to Israeli producer, Yost Koen who continues his rich vein of form that has seen him shine brightly on such esteemed labels as Innervisions and Watergate.

You may already know this one… Duro lock-in the first reload of their burgeoning story so far with a return to Darlyn Vlys’s ‘Wuzu’. Previously featured on the label’s second V/A ‘Muy Duro’ EP, it’s loaded with an instantly recognisable desert-bound vocal, a warm undulating bassline and that perfect balance between space and tribal intensity. And now it’s loaded with a new original and remixes, too…

‘Arrival’ is brand new material from the rising Spanish artist. Perfect for big entrances and mix intros, once again Vlys has nailed that balance between the space aged and tribal with its staccato voodoo voices and purring, velvet machine prowess.

Remix-wise Disco Sentimento founder Tyu strips back ‘Wuzu’ for a woozy percussive twist while Modular Project add a whole new layer of bassline space dust to their remix of ‘Arrival’. Both complement Vlys’s originals, his hip-slinking hypnotic signature and the label’s ever-flourishing remit perfectly. We expect we’ll hear more from Darlyn on Duro very very soon.

@aethernalmusic releases the stunning single "We’ll Be Together", taken from his 2019 debut album on @crosstownrebels titled "Me". Also featured is an exclusive new track and vibrant remixes from @moscoman and @francesco-mami. 

On We’ll Be Together a unifying atmosphere is created with intense energy as intricate melodies weave in and out of an introspective vocal, locked to the groove. Blue Lagoon is a glorious subaquatic soundscape crafted by Ae:ther’s trademark celestial synths and taut percussion. Disco Halal boss Moscoman brings his unpredictable and alternative style to the first remix of We’ll Be Together with retro keys and dreamy pads. Finally, Francesco Mami turns in an uplifting house rework, adding infectious rhythm that will work wonders on the dance floor. 

Born and raised in Rome, with German DNA, Ae:ther is an artist who has established his pedigree as a formidable producer and selector. Following six years in London maturing as an artist, producing at Fortress Studios in Old Street and befriending neighbours such as Bicep, he moved to Berlin. Joining like-minded collaborators Mind Against and Tale of Us, Ae:ther immersed himself in the City's scene. After releasing dazzling EPs on Afterlife, his sound of deep emotion and expert audio design came to the attention of Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus, who signed the debut album Me unequivocally. At the birth of electronic music, its visionary pioneers wanted to soundtrack the future, now that future is here it’s artists like Ae:ther who take up the mantle and guide us into the unknown.
