this is fabulous - it puts me in mind of budd and eno's "The Plateaux Of Mirror" but played much faster. what's amazing to me is that a song at this high a tempo can still invoke the "slow breathing, slow emotions" that i associate with ambient music. lots to think about here...

The source of the chord is the piece “Organ²/ASLSP” by John Cage, to be played “As Slow As Possible.” Currently it is being performed in Halberstadt, Germany, on a special organ that will play it for a total of 639 years. Read up here:

I'm In The House (disquiet0621)

this track has been "broken" for a long time - some recent inspiration (and a leftover prompt) led me to this rework.   A bit more cinematique than I usually make.

Disquiet Junto Project 0621: The Leftovers
The Assignment: Use recently discarded material to make something new.

I startet with a folder that is in fact named "Resterampe" (German for something between "residual ramp", "junkyard" and "dollar store"; or so…) and in which I put interesting stems that I want to reuse some day.

I hammered together a Lyra 8 recording, a modular synth rhythm, some wooden and metal noise recordings. I added some freshly recorded melody and accompanying noises of a plastic bag of paper handkerchiefs.

Originally it was very minimal, but somehow it became overfreighted. I didn't change that, because it somehow fits the title.

Great prompt to revisit some random projects. Searched through this year's Ableton Live folder and found a few unfinished and half-baked files. Decided to use one from last March when I was fooling around with the Puremagnetik Microtron sample pack. I recently acquired Slate+Ash Spectres, so used a couple presets from it to get familiar with the software. Also added a couple tracks using Choreographs. Not sure what flavor I was going for but I'm ok with the result.

The Assignment: Use recently discarded material to make something new.

Step 1: At the end of the calendar year, people often participate in holidays that result in lots of leftover food. Think about the leftovers — discarded tracks, or MIDI files, or ideas — that result from your music-making process.

Step 2: Scrounge around on your hard drive and recording equipment, and in your memory, to access the sort of creative leftovers that came to mind in Step 1.

Step 3: Make a new track primarily using the resources that surfaced in Step 2. You can, of course, add new material. And be sure to reheat sufficiently.

Old test file of 3 Euclidean sequencers.

3) Kalimba - Major Pentatonic A#3 (Right channel)

Some noise filters, used in an extremely controlled manner.

Very light track, performed on tiptoes.

added the train recording to 2 audio tracks in Ableton and 2 midi tracks converting the train to a Bass and Arp2600 Drums. added warp modes and reverbs, Corpus, echo, resonators, and various delays for this train wreck.

Using cut and paste, this piece is comprised mostly from small repetitive elements linked together.  Starting from two piano loops copied repetitively, I added some shorter elements to give some movement including some choral loops which were cut into defined segments.
