A wonderful album full of Balearic vibes, funky riffs and mellow moments, originally released in 1980.

BBE Music are excited to announce this highly sought after album titled ‘Will & James Ragar One” which will be reissued on Vinyl and CD as well as across digital platforms.

James and Will Ragar hail from Louisiana, where their early education into music began. At a young age they moved to New Orleans - where they heard live Jazz for the first time. This inspiration is demonstrated through their free approach to this album.

Their natural evolution through the Louisiana club scene saw them develop and hone their talents of adding that southern swag to covers they did, almost making them their own.

‘Will and James Ragar One’ is a blend of acoustic and electric tones, carefully and cohesively put together by the brothers.

‘As the Day Grows Tired’ is the first song on the album and one of the first songs James wrote.

The theme for ‘She’s Laughter’ is about returning home to someone you love and features a heavy guitar solo. ‘My Shining Sun’ has an unusual jazz form and is an ode to the joy of playing music. ‘Don’t Wish’ was inspired by a jazz chord progression that was a favourite, James played the solo on a pearwood soprano recorder. Gary Roberts played percussion on the session and also played the flute on ‘Just a Wanderer’.

Taken from his 2022 BBE/Batakari released album 'Manifestation', Afro-House pioneer Boddhi Satva releases his Moda Boddhi collaboration with Dino D'Santiago as a digital single. A striking combination of Afro House and Morna inspired melody and vocals, Modha Boddhi is a Lusophonian link between peoples and cultures and a shining embodiment of the collaborative philosophy behind Boddhi Satvas Manifestation album.

Labelled as the Godfather of Ancestral Soul, Boddhi Satva weaves a seamless tapestry between a plethora of African music styles that include his own cultural references from the Central African Republic to his use of instrumentation from his home continent as well as those traditionally classed as 'European'. His ability to fuse the sounds of the Kora and Balafon with Flute, Sax and DJ turntables and to inter-mingle Congolese Rumba with West African and Afro-Cuban rhythms is central to his music. It is no wonder then that Boddhi Satva loves to collaborate with guest musicians such as Dino D'Santiago, who bring their own cultural mix to the party.

Dino D'Santiago is a Portuguese born singer of Capo Verdean parents who had moved to Portugal from their home island of Santiago. It was the against the backdrop of the Portuguese Hip-Hop scene, his involvement in a church choir, the influx of peoples from Angola, Mozambique, Sao Tome and his Capo Verde cultural heritage that allowed Dino to flourish as a composer, musician and vocalist in his multi-cultural home parish of Quarteira. Indeed it was Hip-Hop outfits such as Da Weasel who asked Dino to create hooks for their tracks.

Manifestation is an album with over 30 artists collaborating with Boddhi Satva's genius production values and Moda Boddhi is a track that allows Boddhi Satva and Dino D'Santiago to combine their influences in a track of absolute beauty.

ARIANO FOLK FESTIVAL has been running for 27 years and after being invited first time in 2019, we came back to be part of the 2023 edition last week. Sometimes a curator becomes an artist himself and Francesco Fodarella is one the best! So much beauty in one village is a dream and I want to stay in it so I mixed all artists (that had music) together in a mix.

Tribute AFF2023

We are extremely exited to premiere the psychedelic meets Spiritual Afro Latin jazz sounds of "Ojos 22", by a new artist to our ears, GOkU aka Glasgow based Daniel Ashton - the latest release and artist on the Bristol UK based Worm Discs.

Here GOkU guides us through a cold, still, desert night spent in the shadow of the moon. Shimmering movements and meandering trails of guitar and trumpet, with warnings, lessons and stories for the ages!

GOkU tells us: "This tune's inspirations come from my experiences in New Mexico where my mother is from. It's a culture formed by the meeting of Spanish and Native American influences, in an expansive landscape where desert meets mountain. The interacting percussive and melodious improvisations of Chief Chebe (djembe), Ben Boswell (trumpet) and Norman Willmore (sax) over the trance of the groove reflect these things perfectly to me. My first encounter with the flute was finding old native american style flutes in my Grandmother's house in NM (she lives in a tiny mountain village called Los Ojos hence the name). After cleaning the cobwebs out of them and playing them walking through canyons and valleys, I met an old Navajo man playing in the streets of Santa Fe. The guy was blind and had a shopping trolley which he wandered the desert with... after playing flute with him for a long time he stopped and told me that 'my breath would be my guide' and I need to 'follow my wind'. When I came back to the UK that week, I met my soon to be partner who gave me my first silver flute and taught me how to play it. I realise now that these kinds of synchronicities in my life are what had the biggest influences on the narrative of this first album. "

"Ojos 22" is taken from '11:11' - the debut album from ‘GoKu’ to be released in full digitally via Worm Discs Nov 3rd. An album that connects the dots. Light and darkness, reflections of many kinds.
