After his hugely successful HUB EP and a string of killer releases on his own BLK DRP imprint, Second State mainstay Michael Klein returns with what may be his best work to date with his ‘Peters Hand’ EP.
Klein delivers three absolute burners that somehow embrace the purely functional floor filler prerequisites to ensure maximum range of playability yet he maintains an incredible amount of character and uniqueness setting them apart from anything else. Add to that a rework from the master Heiko Laux, and ‘Peters Hand’ is an absolute monster of an EP. Both ‘Peters Hand’ and 'Broken Keys’ span the A-Side and are a testimonial to the one of a kind approach Klein has to building grooves that are intense and gripping. Flip to the B-Side and Heiko Laux’s remix of ‘Broken Keys’ is a tour-de-force, wall of sound full of tension and euphoria. To round it out ‘Daniels Dream’ sees him finish the EP showing a fairly playful side balanced delicately over an unrelenting and one of a kind Michael Klein groove resulting in a stunning return to the label.

Michael Klein - Broken Keys

For The Nursery’s 20th release – an anniversary in itself – the Argentinian music machine Vladw makes his second appearance on Dynamic Reflection’s sub label. And quite an appearance it is. Even after putting out an insane amount of music since 2013, a stagnation in his productions is still nowhere to be found.

Exactly one year after his first contribution to the label, his ‘Lucid Minds EP’ hits the surface, and to say that it does its name justice would be an understatement. It floats from the acidic influences found in ‘Here, nobody surrenders’ and ‘The history will absolve me’, to the straight forward vibe on the second track, and the beautiful soundscape on the third. 

Even with this seemingly huge variety in styles, all of them are executed with equally high skill and ear for detail. This compelling composition of four very divergent tracks underlines Vladw’s talent and creativity, and to choose one favourite from it would be near impossible.

It’s very rare for us to release an EP from an artist who has not graced the label with a track on a VA or a remix. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. For this release we turn to the formidable Industrialyzer who rose to stardom after his collaborations with The Advent and massive releases for Synewave, Rhythm Converted and Kombination Research to name a few.
For his contribution to Second State he delivers two stunning and hard-edged tunes on his ‘Solid Buzz’ EP where edgy industrial sounds blend with euphoric melodies creating unforgettable dancefloor moments not for the faint of heart. On the self-titled ‘Solid Buzz’ hi-pace percussion and a heavy palette of sound balance perfectly with enchanting arps to deliver a beautiful cut merging vintage Industrial-Techno with post-modern production techniques. Switching to the B-Side sees Industrialyzer take a similar approach, yet the track shines in the call and response of wicked drums and crisp cymbals conceiving a full throttle assault of warehouses for the unforeseeable future. Welcome to Second State, Industrialyzer!
