A conversation with Anne Gallagher: local musician, and booking agent for Garryowen Irish Pub in Gettysburg. We talked about putting your own personality into booking bands; her suggestions for aspiring performers trying to play and book shows (which were essential and excellent); and what it was like for her to grow up in a musical household (her brother Dan has been in numerous bands over the years).

We also played some music from her current project TxBxDx, off their new release Toxic Bitch Destroyer. Evocative of the 70s and 80s punk scene, TxBxDx's lyrics are hard-edged and sincere ("I've got a lot of friends who are killing themselves/I've got a lot of friends who are almost dead"), and the music is in the pocket. Thomas Roue has been playing music in Gettysburg for almost two decades. We talked about music: playing it, writing it, listening to it, performing it, and all of it. Today features a good, long chat with my friend Reza Djalal, manager of the Adams County Farmers' Market. The market takes place every Saturday through October, from 8 AM to 1 PM, in the lot behind the transit center at 100 Carlisle St in Gettysburg. 

Reza and I also graduated from the same quirky, intensely intellectual, liberal arts college (St. John's College, which has campuses in Annapolis, MD and Santa Fe, NM), and the conversation certainly bears that watermark. 

A very interesting chat with a very interesting person, doing some excellent and important work in our community.
