Streichquartett No. 2 / String Quartet No. 2 (Gebhard Ullmann) (2021)

I composed 'Hell und Bunt' in 1995. This is the completely revised version from 2020. 

'Hell und Bunt' is a suite of five movements and a playing time of about 18 minutes depending on the length of the performance and the microtonal minimal movements. It was recorded by the Aduma Quartet in March, 2025.

Written in 2021 this is an ongoing series of orchestra pieces.

Movement 1 is an orchestra version of my composition Oberschoeneweide (originally written for a documentary on that district of Berlin in 1993), movement 2 is an orchestra version of my composition 'Mala Dr'ole' from 1990, movement 3 the orchestra version of the 'Afrika Variationen' originally written for a tour through Africa in the 80's.

It has 4 Movements entitled 'Schattenspiele 1- 4' and 'Dunkle Schattierungen teilweise überlagert von rötlichen Pastelltönen' and about 30 minutes in length.

I revisited the work in 2023 and we recorded it in 2023. 
This is the 4th movement: Schattenspiele 4.

This is a new orchestra piece entitled 'Tá Lam - For Large Orchestra and Soloists' of approx. 21 minutes in length.
It was orchestrated by Udo Agnesens in 2021 and revised by Gebhard Ullmann in july and august 2022.

It is based on compositions from my woodwind suites I wrote between 1990 and 1995.
The woodwind ensemble these suites were composed for was named 'Tá Lam Project' after the first CD 'Tá Lam' from 1993 - now a classic of new woodwind music on the edge of composition and improvisation.

In the score there are optional sections for improvising soloists that can be opened.
For example in bars 41 and 301.
The solo sections are optional and would increase the length to approx. 27 minutes.
