“My intention for this mix, which I was invited to do, was to try and recreate the feeling of experiencing a psychedelic ceremony through the selection, sequencing and mixing of the music in the mix.

I, relatively recently left a life behind me that I had spent all of my life to progress and be accepted in.

The more successful I got, and the higher up I progressed in my career and followed this life that I thought was the answer to my problems, the more unhappy I seemed to be.

I’ve since chosen to leave this life, that on paper or from a distance, would appear to be the happy conclusion of years of hard work through study and reaping the financial rewards… a lovely house, a successful partner and two beautiful children, knowing that if I continued on this path, that as a family we would be financially worry free for life.

But I’m not a character on a piece of paper and the pain and trauma that I thought I’d cleverly managed to avoid dealing with, eventually caught up with me.

Once reality eventually caught up with me, or maybe I realised that I couldn’t run anymore I had to face my past.

I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, but I honestly didn’t realise how difficult this journey was going to be.

I left a career that was giving me financial stability but at the same time mental and spiritual torture and retrained in facilitating trauma healing ceremonies via psychedelic plant medicines… Ayahuasca / Psilocybin.

I’m not a Shaman, I’ve not been trained in this particular aspect of life.  I never asked for it, I never expected it and even now I’m not even sure that I want it…. But for one reason or another the Spirit world contacted me. They have been teaching me about the universe, about energy and frequency and how through them I might eventually be able to heal myself and then others.

They recently revealed themselves to me, my ancestors were Druids (I’m irish) and that I come from a long line of healers.

Whether I expected this or not , whether I wanted this or not, or whether you believe me or not, I have no control over.

All I do know… and it’s something that I have battled and resisted until recently, I have a connection to the spirit world or rather it has a connection to me.

I’ve used songs (that are very sacred to me) that I have until now exclusively in the ceremonies that I facilitate along with electronic music to try and create a mix that (hopefully) not only sounds interesting but also has a frequency of healing.

Though the spirits of my ancestors I’ve been shown how to encode my own intentions in to the frequency of songs.

So instead of listing the track title and the artist as I normally would. I’ve listed the intention that I have  additionally encoded.

I believe in the power of the frequency of music to effect change.

The mix starts off slow and gentle and familiar then slowly and subtly the mood changes to one of perceptual distortion, until Pandora's Box is opened.

The music then slowly gets quite dark then very dark. But what I’ve learned through over 150 ceremonies is that there is no darkness without light and vice versa.
It’s only by going through the darkness that you can get to see the light.

The mix ends in a similar vein to which it starts, but the music at the end has an added healing quality.

It’s always good in the end…. in the end
