"Elephant Rope" is based on a real experience I had at the circus when I was a teenager. I never forgot seeing the elephants behind the circus enclosed with nothing but a thin rope. I asked my teacher why they didn't try to escape, and he said they don't know they can because they have been trained since they are babies to think they can't. I never forgot that lesson. I wanted to write a song to admit my own "elephant ropes" and for everyone who struggles with a lie they believe that holds them back.

Elephant Rope

RIGSI's signature driving rhythms, infectious layered melodies, and anthemic lyrics continue to evolve since her 1994 debut album Gift of All, which first gained international attention for the song "Never Leave Again" from the action film Crossfire. Gift of All - and the follow-up Consider This - showcase RIGSI’s early sound, heavily influenced by synth-pop and dark/new wave giants like Madonna, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics and Cocteau Twins. 

The 1998-2002 compilation album Indigo Vault features originals and remixes of RIGSI favorites, including “One More Day,” “Testament,” “Nature of Love,” and “Magnet,” which garnered RIGSI rare and coveted airplay for an independent artist on Top 40 radio stations in the U.S. and Ireland, along with club play in Los Angeles and New York and her first major label deal. In 2002, RIGSI was recognized as a “Songwriter to Watch” by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and was awarded Best Dance/Novelty Song for “Magnet” by the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (SAW).

The recently remastered Long Road Collection follows RIGSI’s musical and personal journey from 1994 to 2020, crossing over from alt-pop and dance into contemporary Christian. Album highlights include the melodic pop singles “99 Failed,” “Richard Cory,” and “The Cross” and heavier club grooves “Wade in the Water,” “Alibi,” and “Soldier.”
