Irish singer-songwriter Mima Merrow releases ‘Secret Codes.’ The third single from her debut album – Almost Home due for release on the 23rd September 2022.

Combining spoken word, song and found sound, Secret Codes explores the idea of home; where it is, who is allowed there, the rituals and rites of passage that bring it together.

A gentle bed of piano and whispers opens the scene for a story that has more questions than answers. Inge Thomson’s ghostly backing vocals, offering some company to the lonely narrator.

Secret Codes is released on the 16th of September.

Made of Sea is the final track of Belfast born, Glasgow living singer songwriter Mima Merrow's album - Almost Home.  A love song to the sea and a plea for those we love to be more like it - to become as reliable, wild and rhythmical as the oceans. 

Almost Home is Mima's debut album and is written, performed and recorded by Mima remotely with support on production from Inge Thomson.
 
The album explores the idea of home; where it is, who is allowed there, the rituals and rites of passage that bring it together. 

Almost Home captures the funny and heart-breaking moments of existing between two places and the struggle of feeling at home and like a stranger at the same time.

Since releasing her first single, Freckles in 2020 her music has received airplay on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle, BBC Radio Scotland (thanks to Roddy Hart), features in Scotland on Sunday and reviews via SNACK magazine, The Skinny and The Music Files.

Mima Merrow Remix - Summer Nights Jen Athan

Mima Merrow is an Irish singer-songwriter based in Glasgow. 

Merrow’s sound is a unique blend of alternative folk characterised by longing, sudden changes in direction and melodies that ache.  Fascinated by the relationship between our environments and bodies, her thoughtful lyricism is held together by intimacy, honesty and stories to challenge her listeners.
