SPOILER ALERT / If you don't know who is Myla and you want to listen to this song, let me tell you the moving story of Myla, a cheerful miner insect, from the game Hollow Knight (You can read this by listening the song) :

You are a knight insect. Going through a path, you hear someone singing in a cave. You meet her breaking stones with a pickaxe, singing a rhyme from childhood. In a world hit by a plague that turns people into ferocious beasts, with few conscious person, it is a joy to meet a friendly person. But you must go in order to fight this plague. Even going, she begins singing all by herself, without any audience.

From time to time, you go back through the mines path. you took the opportunity to go see Myla, still undermining. She is glad that you go back to say hello. She suggests you take a pickaxe to go dig with her to find gems. Seeing her working, you listen to the same rhyme that lulled the childhood of the young insects of Hallowest. You decide to be a spectator of her concert.

You can also imagine that the story is told by two bards : Tae and Geuk, who sing and play the mandolin and the lute.

SPOILER : When you hear that the music becomes glaucous, listen at this moment (at 2:00) :

The plague is anchored in the underground walls. You think of Myla who is still in the mining caves. You dare to find her. The sounds of the peaks guide you but you do not hear any more singing. When you arrive, you understand that it is too late : The plague had begun to attack Myla. She continues the rhyme but moaning. You gently approach her, patting her shoulder but no answer. You're disoriented, you don't know what to do. You try to pull her to take her to the surface. Suddenly, she shows signs of aggressiveness by throwing her pick in your direction. Given the situation, you know that there is only one thing left to do : fight.

You stay on the defensive, you don't want to hurt her. you look for a solution to take her to the surface but the ferocity of the hits doesn't give you any respite. With the dreams nail, you try to read in these thoughts : The same song but no longer sings. After moving away from her, you realize that there is no solution. She is left to her fate. By charging your shot, you decide to make a choice : shorten its suffering. A last cry rings in the caves.

You recover your spirit, the sounds of the caves invade the atmosphere. You find Myla's body lifeless. You leave...

The first thing you can think of that is : OMG DIS IS SO SAD. But We can see something else : before killing her, you also took the life of many infected before. It makes you realize that before they were ferocious beasts, they all had a life, a passion, a goal. Whether it is to kill zombies, evil or infected, it is necessary to respect the lives of these people and not a reason to satisfy impulses. Life is too precious to be taken away so easily. It has been given to us, we must not waste it.
